I think we have started off on the right foot with the Grease Police. We are now reporting these deficiencies to AHJ's , and showing physical evidence, photographic proof, that the hazards exists. They will have to get handled on a case by case basis, but we are trying to do something about it.By "Doing Better" I meant "What can we (you) do about it?" (about making the restaurant do it -- about telling the AHJ -- about telling the world that without it the system (see Chris) is not being cleaned and poses a fire hazard) That's the "Doing Better". -- Old question -- still in need of an answer.
That is HUGE! To have your manuals available from those bodies is cold hard proof that you are making an incredible difference in this industry. The inroads I am making with the insurance and fire departments continues to grow. Both NFPA and ICC will be carrying some of my manuals in their catalogue.
Now let's play a game and say its 5 or 10 years down the line and now proper access is being put in around the country. Fire departments and insurance companies are insisting that it gets installed, and it is.
Now what? What do we do about the hood cleaners that have great access (like in the below pictures) but still refuse to clean exhaust system to NFPA 96 standards even after they have pledged to do it through certification and membership in national organizations?
I would like your take on this Phil. What would you do if you received evidence that a Phil Ackland Certified cleaner was leaving exhaust systems like these pictures?
Without giving out the company name, I will say 2 things about the photos, 1) The service was done sometime in the last month and 2) The company is certified.
