Tires for my SuperDuty

I just got 90,000 out of a set of Maxxis Bravos.

Don't know who makes them, but they would have gone more and I chickened out.

$650 for 4 tires.

I have Big "O" brand tires on my truck. The last set lasted 60,000 miles, but after I had them rotated I had a tread seperate. They gave me a replacement for free. On one of my other trucks I have some tires of theirs that are guaranteed for 100,000 miles. You might want to look at them. They have about 20,000 miles on them now and look brand new. Pretty amazing, because they are subjected to a VERY hard life.
Just my thought.

I didn't notice till just now that this thread is about a year old, and Mike's probably already wornout the 2 new tires that he was asking about then.

Oh well.

Big O has stores here. 100,000 miles on tires is hard to ignore, so I'll stop there sometime.

Alan I do that with the local Firestone store, want tires that will give longer life.

CHuck where did you buy those odd brand tires?

Big O, got one right here in town, shall talk with them, thanks for the tip Scott.

Wondering if your as hard a driver as I am, hmm, I do recall that monster truck going down the road bumpy bump but not to fast, must have been the gearing in the rear end, the trucks, not yours.

Right here in my town. The utility companies here have gone to using those tires, and that got my attention.

Nope, I'm not a "hard driver" as you call it where a deal is concerned. Money burns a hole in my pocket and I'm usually too busy working to spend it.

Well,

I needed new tires because one of my tires was messed up, and I needed to install the spare..........I plow snow, and in that type of situation it's not cool to have one brand new tire and three that are 70% spent......

Due to other financial priorities, I elected to brave winter on my old tires. I made it though OK, and now intend to replace my tires before my state inspection is due in September.

So, basically, I have nothing to add to this conversation.

Mike, Kumho makes a good 10 ply heavy duty truck tire that will run about 100,000mi. I was always a Michelin fan until I found these. I don't know the exact model or what they might sell for in your area but the Mann Farm and Ranch supply here sells them for 75.00 ea which is a great price for such a good tire.

tires

Mike, I just got in on this thread and need to make my contribution. I just bought new tires. I have a F350 CC 2WD. So we probably run the same size 235.85.16. Ive had Goodyears, BFG, BridgeStone. I just bought Yokohama. 10 ply w/ 3 ply sidewalls. The best in their class. 60K tread. These are the M/S but they do make a more agressive tread for 4X4 and the conditions you will need. 490.00 out the door. They do have a good reputation.

Update:

I found this thread while searching for something else.

I found a local mechanic with a super duty like mine.........and bought the set of Michelin LTX's off of it..........they have (had) about 15,000 miles left in them.........whole set $125. Killer deal.......and they've been great so far. Got them back in November.

Also, found a guy on ebay that sells take off tires from brand new fords that get upgraded tires/wheels. Sells the OEM tires for $350 per set. He's in Texas, but shipping is reasonable.

I bought a set of bridgestone dueller revos for a 01 f150. They have good tread and ride smooth , little noise . I priced them on tire rack.com . They were around $50 cheaper per tire. I went to the local tire store and they honored the price. So I even saved not haveing to pay shipping. I learned that tires have a huge mark up and you can deal with your tire store for a better price.

Mike, Since my last post on this subject I have wore out those tires on our 95 F350 CC 2wd 7.3L. 45000 miles and they were used up. So much for 60k. Took them back for balance and rotation about every 10k. Just wore out too soon. Good even wear, but just didnt get the expected wear out of them. Now Im trying Cooper tires 235.85.16, they are 50k tires . We will see.
Rodney, Im in the middle of a problem with Bridgestone. On my personal ride, a 2000 F250 CC 4X4 SB 7.3L, I have 285.75.16 Duelers. I thru a tread and now Bridgestone doesnt want to cover it. Says its my fault, like I hit a curb or something and caused thr tread to come off. They could tell all that from looking at the carcass, yea right. Only have 20k miles on them, rotated and balanced regular, good wear etc. When the tire exploded it did about 1800.00 damage to the truck bed. Ive had to jump thru hoops backwards for these people. So I tired of messing with them and have my Lawyer deal with them. Maybe they will pay attention to me now! We will see.

Michael,

The same guy that sells the tires sells entire F250 truck beds............short and long beds in assorted colors for only $500!!!!! But, you have to pick them up. He happens to be in texas, which would work well for you.......

Michael,
I'll give you some advice on the Cooper tires(I spent 8 yrs building them)Rotate every 6000 miles, keep the inflation checked and you will get great wear out of them.***Do not fail to due these 2 thing with these tires***.I guessing if you got a Cooper with a 50k warranty it's a Discoverer H/T or A/T,both are great tires.
Cooper has great customer service if you ever have a problem,or at least they did when I left last Oct.

You would be amazed at just what they can determine from a carcass.I do find it hard to believe that it was something other than a bad tread package.
Tire rubber is only viable(sp?) for a set amount of days(it varies for different components,if used after the max date it can create problems).Good Luck

I can't find his phone number, but this is his email address. His name is Ron. Tptrlh@cs.com If you can't reach him that way, I might be able to find his username on Ebay.

They also have good deals on bumpers and wheels. Last year, I had a price quote from him for a set of chrome wheels, with brand new oem tires mounted on them, and a new chrome rear bumper............price was around $700 for everything, including the shipping to Pennsylvania.
