Time for a Break

A good friend of mine lost a bid today on some Garbage Trucks. He finished in 4th place with a bid that was a few bucks under what they were worth washing for. The winning bid was $4 per truck, and it got me to thinking.

I need a break from the action and am willing to offer up at least a few hundred units a week to the LOWEST BIDDER in a subcontracting basis.

Of course all of the usual requirements would have to be met by the lucky low bidder before I'd turn them loose i.e. 2 million in Business Liability with $100,000 in Garage Keepers coverage attached, Workmans Comp Coverage, all the proper licenses, and be EPA compliant for starters.

I would provide you with nothing, zip, zilch, and would wait at home for the checks to arrive, and in turn send you your cut.

I know some of you think I'm kidding, but it seems perfectly feasible to me.

Subcontracting to the lowest bidder is a great way to make a living. There are general contractors who make millions doing nothing other than finding work, and contracting the work to the lowest bidder. You could spend more of your time looking for other contracts and doing whatever it is that you enjoy, while others are generating the income for you. Good luck with your new venture.

I am the one that lost that bid. I bid $18.50 for 250 garbage trucks a week. The winning bid, or a tleast the lowest bid was $4.00 a truck. SOme of the Major requirements on the contract were:
Every truck had to be moved tot he wash pit, approximately 200 yards away, up to a quarter mile a way
Every Cab, and Body had to be lifted to wash underneath
$500,000 in garage keepers insurance
You also must have a FULL recovery system in case for some reason the wash pit was broken down.
You also must wash the canopies on the front loader trucks.
You must use a Hot Water system.

I figure that this prime candidate for the corporate Darwin Awards is going to pay about $5.00 a truck to wash them. That is, if they even get the contract.

Sorry Scott, but it sounds like you were trying to make a profit, you know them trash trucks only pull in about $10,000 aweek each gross revnew ( just a guess) lol...............................

$500,000 in Garage Keepers Liability is a LOAD!!

Hope the lucky winner has a good insurance broker.

Boy, I'm glad I dont live out west. We wash garbage trucks for 17.50 and do everything Scott mentioned. No one can even come close to breaking even at 4.00. Scott, maybe you'll get the job in a month or two when the other guy goes broke.

I doubt it. I was the fifth bid out of 6.
