Thinking about Buying a New Diesel Truck

Ford needs to develop a great diesel and stick with it. They change engines every few years and it has given them a bad name. Since the 7.3 went away they have had nothing but problems.

I have always heard a lot of good things about the 7.3 Diesel engine, very strong, very durable and very reliable.

I really like the looks of the new motor, BUT do I want to be the first to test it for them LOL but it better have a good warranty for me to spend my cash on it. My wash season is about to end for the most part this month from Nov thru Feb or even March, I may get a night now and then to wash so maybe I might hold out until spring I don't know just yet. If I get a great Deal it maybe sooner.

I'm keeping my eyes open and maybe something good will come along.

Thats the problem with American made trucks, they come out with a new engine and they have us test them out. I was stranded with my trailer 3 times on a trip up to NY. 3 tows and 2 hotel rooms plus feed the boys.

That was with my 6.0 ford dually, I loved the truck but I just could not deal with the problems and being stranded anymore....I love my Gasser, turn the key and go!! Here is a picture of my dually 6.0 great looking truck and when it ran it ran real good!!!:winknudge:

7.3 are the best out there!!!

I got mine pushing 550 horse power and 1,100pounds of torque and still get 15 mpg towing 7-10,000 pounds. I LOVE POWER!!!

Nick that was a nice looking truck .....

I loved it, it was really hooked up inside as well, awesome stereo, video. I stripped that truck when I traded it in.

It looks like the F250 series will be coming out with the new Boss 6.2-liter V-8 engine putting out 400 HP and 400 feet of Torque, they are suppost to be getting better milage then the 6.8 V 10 they have out now and have more power. I can wait until spring now that it is getting cold here and my pressure washing is going to go to a halt for a few months and maybe I will look into the 6.2-liter V-8 engine instead.

I heard about the new gas engine, they said they were going to get rid of the proven 5.4 & V10 and replace it with the 6.2 V8. This is what ford does, instead of comming out with a new engine and see how it goes, they eliminate whats working and try something new an unproven? Idiots!!

One thing to consider with a new truck is full coverage insurance. You might save on interest payments but you will pay in the long run. We usually find good used trucks from one of the rental companies. They will really drop prices. They have already made their money and just want to move the trucks. I just bought four Ford box trucks from a rental company all 2003-2004 with the 7.3l diesels for a customer. They wanted fifty four thousand and took 38,000 for the bunch. I bought a 2005 F450 diesel with 86,000 miles for 10,350.00. I just sold my 99 V10 it had 206,000 miles on it. The only problem I had which happens with the Triton motor is it shot the spark plug out and stripped the hole. Ford wanted me to change the head $5000.00. The way the plugs are in there you can't get at it to put a helicoil in to fix the stripped heads. However I found a tool from snap on $500.00 and one hour it was fixed. I ran it for 36,000 miles after without another problem. Hope this helps.
