The pentagon

I got a call to go to the pentagon to look at some kitchens there.
I have to get a security clearance just to go in and look at these places. I have clearances to clean inside of a government installation inside of a mountain (one of the places they take top government officials in case of a nuclear attack) and various airports and they are nowhere near as hard to get into as the pentagon. I am thinking I don't even want to bother. What do you think?

I would do it just to say I did it LOL. There is no way I would pass that opportunity up. As part of your bid tell them you would like to have the flag that flew over the pentagon the day you did the cleaning. I will bet you could get one of them. Heck if was a restaurant owner and it was between you and one other and you told me you cleaned at the Pentagon I would hire ya. But that may just be me.

Remember the $700.00 toilet seat?
All the hoops they are going to want you to jump through and all the time to get on the roof there. Go for it

Do they want you to provide the Clearance and what level of clearance do they want you to have? Getting a clearance on your own can be expensive.

Isn't there a Purchasing Agent around there who can take your Social Security Number and Birthplace and have you cleared to do the specific work that they want you to do? That's how it usually works in the places I "visit" lol, and if the area I'm going to be working in is real secure they simply assign a guard to watch us. Easy money for him.

I'd like to know how this turns out for you Bryan.

Chuck, Which places do you "visit"?
Are you Nor Cal or So Cal?

Grant

So Cal in Ventura County.

I don't really want to say the places I go to on a public bulletin board, but will buy you lunch someday if you're around and give you an earfull. :)

go for it

I agree that you should do it just for the future ability toclaim that you had done it. I've given GREAT deals to small local businesses (decks, patios and such) just to able to tell potential residential customers that "yeah, we did the deck at ABC Coffee." If that gives me more credibility (and I believe it does by their responses) then saying that you do cleaning for the pentagon should definately give you more credibility. Go for it and tell us all about it.

I probably will do it, and I'm sure even with the added amount I will charge to do it, after it is all said and done. I will still think " why did I get myself into this" My experience tells me this will be a nightmare both from just getting access to the places needed inside, and I am sure they don't have simple straight to the roof ductwork.
I have been to the air and space museum twice to bid on work and they still can't tell me where all the ductwork goes. They came up with mechanical drawings after my first trip and they show things that don't even exist. What I do know is that if you are ever walking by the museum and smell McDonalds hamburgers, it is because the kitchen exhaust exits through a grate in the sidewalk. Blows right up your pant leg.

Bryan,

If the price were right I am sure you would have no problem going there.

Go for it!

Chris

If the price was right I would be on a plane with the truck in tow!

I will still think " why did I get myself into this

Oh no doubt about that, any time you are dealing with the goverment it will make you scratch your head. There will probably be allot of "Hurry up and wait" going on.

I still think it would be awsome though.

Bryan,

As I was reading the messages I couldn't help thinking of a familiar game show calling out to you......

"Bryan LeDane, come on down you're the next contestant on The Price is Right". :D

Pentagon

Bryan, Go for it . I do some federal prisons , and it cant be much worse than that. Also I do some AFB's. Just as long as you dont have a extensive criminal record, have all the insurances in place and can sell yourself, you should do just fine. Also this narrows the bidding field down considerably. Good luck on the bid. Should look good on the resume.

You can be OUR MAN at the Pentagon. LOL
