I just want to talk about the impact of perhaps the most influential person in history. In just the past few weeks I've seen remarkable things:
· He has shown incredible grace to those who would criticize him and those who would unseat him. Yet he maintains a fire that also shows he'll convince you of his greatness.
· Fighting through some of the most adverse times in history, he is making everyone around him better. That's a leader.
· His bright smile and measured words are a source of hope for those who never thought they could achieve their goals because of their race. He broke many real and perceived barriers and is poised to be (I believe) potentially the greatest of all time.
· He appears on television on Sunday afternoons and inspires a feeling of 'all is right with the world' and 'everything is going to be OK'. People all over the world pay attention when he has the stage, and hang on his actions. Just watching him, this middle-income white guy wants to be better.
· His actions and decisions influence so many parts of the fabric of our society, including the economy, and yet his quiet humbleness belies his courageous spirit that has overcome so much.
