The Case Against Using Small Diameter 3/8 Hose

Flow, flow, flow, you can restrict it at the nozzle/gun to the gpm output you desire, the more it flows, the more you can restrict it creating pressure. Those pumps (dc) need as little restriction as possible, gas, air, & 110v powered pumps can overcome more restrictions because the are stronger. We run 300' off our pumps, the first 150' is 5/8" and the next 150' is 1/2" to the nozzle.

This works out very well for us because the flow is good enough at that distance and the 1/2" is less fatiguing to maneuver on the working end. We also run it through a 3/4" swivel and waterway at the reel. We tested it with our flow meters and were happy with the minimal difference in flow by switching the last 150' to 1/2".

Yea Russ, I have been trying to work on the signature part of the forum but I seem to be doing something wrong, hopefully I will have it figured out soon. Also I was using another cleaner for roofs. I will not say what brand but had issues with everything not coming off. I had a roof like this yesterday, today I tryed the applesauce mix for the first time, omg wish I would have done it so much sooner. I will be using this as much as possible, if not all the time. I just need to get the run off worked out but it was nice to see what it could do. Thanks again, chris.

I tinkered with your signature all I could , see if that helps you , I just cant use all the controls you can from here

Russ, I got it figured out, doh me, lol thanks again. I have been enjoying your forums, this is a good thing you have here. I have seen a few and this one I feel is a very good one you have. Thanks again, have a good day.

I go by James, and thank you for the welcome. I just ordered me a delavan pump yesterday. I have been using the shurflo 3.8 gpm but have heard so much about the delavan pump 5.3gpm so thought I would try it out. I also only use a 100ft of 5/8 hose. Next week I would like to go with 150 to 200 ft of hose once I get this pump and try it out. I used the applesauce mix last week on two different roof jobs. Needless to say I will not be going back to the old way. I will stick with this, thanks for the good info, much appreciated. Hey another thing, Chris I tryed calling you, I am in Tampa this weekend. Hell I was going to buy you lunch but you did not call me back  but I know your probably busying with work. Good meeting everyone and Russ if you have a moment call me about the dual setup I had a few questions. I called you during the week but never heard back so I figured you was busy too. Take care, James.
