Hello to every one in pressure washing land. I have a ? on bidding. Since no one wants to tell you what there currant bid is how do you come out with a guesstament on property with out scaring the hell out of them. I'm not talkin about washing 10 heavy set kids more like 40 dept stores. They gave me one to measure and it was 2500 sq ft. That was the front of the store so 2500 x 0.06 = 150 x 40 = 6000 a month is this reasonable or outrages please let me know your thoughts on this thanks

I'm almost in the middle of the stores. Its about an hour north and an hour south give or take a minute or so

I just don't want to loose out on a bid with that many stores cause i was greedy is all. I've never had to bid on more than 2 stores. The plan was "if i get it" is do a few and try to get more clients in the area so its not a hour travel to one store.

I understand not wanting to lose the bid.
Are they expecting you to do gum removal? How many sq.ft an hour can you clean? Are you going to be using hotwater and chems?
These are all things I take into consideration when bidding, some are used as selling points.
I reserve the $.05 to $.07 per sq.ft price range for much larger areas.I have bid wide opens areas with 10,000+ sq.ft with no gum removal @ $.05 and still not go the bid.The last one we were under bid on, the guy bid @ $.02 sq.ft (14,000sq.ft),did I mention he's no longer in business. He was trying to land contracts by being the lowest bidder and he went broke.
Sell you and the quality your company can provide,
The only other advice I can give is bid what you are comfortable with and hope for the best.

exstream,

Please post your number name and a web address if you have one. I would gladly tell you the correct number. I dont even care if you live in phx.

couple questions. do you live in a metro area?

What part of Utah ya from?

lol sorry I’m from Bountiful, Utah and my email is extradumb@hotmail.com. as soon as I figure this forum thing out I’ll get all my info posted right.
I really appreciate this from you guys. The only other person I’ve had to ask is the wife and.....She still likes the machine cause its shiny so....
From what I’ve got out of the building is there is some gum but I always tell them that’s one of the things I provide cause it looks like crap if you don't. I live 10-15min outside of SLC by the way.
I've read all the how to price out jobs forums and I’ve used the equations but I still have people react to me like I’m trying to change there long distance carrier.
That’s why I ask if bidding is any different is all

Christoph 801-859-3242 and I haven't changed my email for a while but I don't give it out to my clients, just somethin i made up in high school a few years back. I haven't thought of a cool email adress yet that I can give out

Thanks,

Your price is not outrageous since your in a metro area. If your going to travel rural UT then your to cheap. Of course if that only a maint price, say 30 day maint.

if your talk about a one time shot your way off.

first of all i would need to look to give you a price. Its all depends on how much gum. where are window located and how many doors on the front. is there a garden center?

another thing, 2500 feet is wrong. unless we are talking drig store, you said dept. No dept store is 2500 feet. go measure a sears, walmart target or any other. you may find they are double.

if your talking about a smaller store then ok. I understand you dont want to say and thats smart. but remember I know what location are dirty and what one are not.

if they were only 2500 ft, one time shot might be 600.00 per store. Might i said, i cannot see how dirty they are. if you think your going to go out for less than 300 or 400 then your silly.

If they wanted maint then you could swing 150.00 or 200.00 that 96,000.00 annually.

Good luck and call if you need to.

Ron,
I agree 110% if these are 1 time cleaning my price would be inline with what yours is.I bid $800 on a 1 time cleaning for a Lowes last fall, the manager decided he would rather try to do it in house.
Now that I think about it I need to talk with him again and see if he'll give us a shot at it this year.3 of his employees spent about 1 1/2 week doing it with cold water units using wands.

Were they not thinking

I know Home Depot rents surface cleaners, does Lowes not?
If they do why did they not use their surfacer???
