Went to clean the exhaust at nuclear power plant. 4 hr drive, halfway through the job we were informed that we could not dump the water anywhere, we had to take it with us. Which we were not prepared to do. Gee isn't that something they should have told us before we committed to the job? We had to stop cleaning and take about 50 gallons of water with us in trash cans.
 
JUst out of curiosity, if you can not dump water there, where can you legally get rid of it? Seems that they must have a process for this onsite.
 
That is ridiculous, where do they dump their dish and kitchen waist water? I would have gone into orbit, I would charge them big time.
Mr. Alan-traditionally, we use the in-house grease drains. The grease for the most part is broken down by chemicals and this product does not go into the "waterways".

That was my argument, you wash dishes and flush toilets don't you. The guy told me they had a system for that but they could not accept our wastewater because it had a limited capacity. I already am charging out the wazoo because I didn't want to go there in the first place. $1200 for three small hoods and fans, only one of them dirty. Two straight ducts one with a short horizontal before it goes up with an access panel, pretty elementary stuff.
I suspect that this is a case of a peon employee over stepping his authority, I tried calling the main guy Friday but I just got voice mail. I guess I will here from him Monday, well I won't I'm going on vacation for a week.

P.S. isn’t this technically their wastewater anyway?
 
Yes-It is their waste water. I would call Monday and set the situation right for the next service.

I have been told by the EPA, the state of TEXAS, and a lawyer that anyone in the chain (handle the waste stream) can be held liable for the wast water. This includes the customer, the contractor, and the employee. Usually, they will try to go after who ever has the deep pockets.

And if that is the customer then they or their insurance will come after you later.

Never sign off on excepting full responsibility for a waste stream unless you are well compensated. And you make sure to cover all your bases.
