We accidently sprayed some brick cleaning chem (muratic acid based) on some copper roofing on a new construction job. Any one ever removed tarnish from copper?
That cleaner should have cleaned the copper if it wasn't straight muriatic, not tarnished it. Was there a sealer on the copper that the acid may have damaged?
I think I have heard that ammonia will clean tarnish from copper,'' toilet bowl cleaner''. I have heard of builders wanting the copper turned to look weathered, may be okay, but probably a slim chance.
Home owner wants copper to remain original. Talked to person yesterday who said to use 50/50 mix of gas and engine oil, followed by boiled linseed oil.
