Target credit card theft

We just got hit with $426 in stolen charges on a bank card that Shelly has only used at Target and through a long time Amazon.com account.

It was used for multiple fuel charges in California.

She shopped at Target on Black Friday and once about a week ago.

Anybody else get hit with this?

This was a regular bank card. We cut up all credit cards in 2008 when they lowered credit limits and charged fees when you pay them off each month. The bank is already reversing the charges for us.

Its all good.

I haven't seen it happen yet, but I am certain that my wife will find it when it does.

Targets computer system got hacked and this is happening to people that made purchases between Black Friday and this past Sunday. Cathy was telling me about it last night. She said several of her friends from church got hit too.

So far we have been clean from what I can tell but man there are a lot of transactions to go through...someone likes to shop! At least we have a 0 fraud liability on or credit cards.

Unrelated but something strange happened tonight at W#lmart.

We are having everybody over tomorrow for Christmas Eve. Shelly had what she thought was about $400 worth of food stuff.

She had 60 items. On every item except wine the cashier manually overrode the price.

Here are some examples: Almond Milk $1.20 Usually about 3 times that.

$12.00 Lasagna platter - $4.00

He did that on everything. All even numbers like $1.00 or $2.50 etc.

She walked out of there with a $162 total.

What happened there? Christmas gift from W#lmart?

Strange.

I'm sending her back now. lol.

My wife had been to Target in that time period, but I guess with them finding out and notifying various financial institutions our bank acted quickly. Holly got a call from Suntrust saying that they were cancelling her card as a precaution following the leak of information. Those of you who have been affected, who are your cards with?

Although not ideal in the lead up to Christmas to not have her debit card, we thought this was great as a precautionary measure.
