cut the hole in the block of wood first. then tape the wood over the smaller hole and slowly drill the larger hole. make sure the block of wood is 3/4" thick. I've used this method many times and it works.

Like Russ said, use a jig saw. Very easy to do.

Update-I got it fixed yall no problem! I used a jigsaw.
