Tagaway

Anybody ever use Tagaway and I have a Rollup Door and a Reg Metal door that is painted from the factory. Will this take off the Graffiti without taking the paint from factory off too. Taginator works great on Cinder Blocks this I know from using it. Plus I up Sold getting rid of the Bird Poo too :bad: :D

I have used both of those but I would still try it in a small spot out of the way just in case. A lot of companies have products that say that they will not remove the original paint but it does not hurt to be safe.

With that much bird crap, maybe sell them on a monthly cleaning or sell them the bird spikes.

Holy Poo!

Terry, we have not had the best of luck with Tagaway on painted surfaces. It's been hit or miss. We've started turning down the work. It may be a mistake, but it requires a trip out to do a test area, then a trip to do the work. It's just not worth what most are willing to pay for all that time. That's just my take on it Terry.

Just a question. Why not just paint over it? No worries about paint coming off and I would guess your profit for painting that versus removing it would be about the same. Plus it would look better with fresh paint than cleaned.

The reason Tagaway or other products don't work on most graffiti on previously painted surfaces is that the majority of the time the previously painted surfaces where painted with a latex paint. Latex paint, even a glossy latex paint, acts like a primer coat to graffiti, which is an enamel paint.

As Doug suggested, best to just repaint the door or area that has been previously painted with a latex paint. Washing the area to ensure a good, bond-able surface is very important if your customer expects the paint to adhere. Espec sell a great product, Prepp Ezz, especially designed to creat the perfect prep for repaint bond-able surface. If your fingernail can penetrate the paint, it's latex. Very rarely these days do contractors use enamel paints. Back when I owned my painting company in Chicago, we used enamel paints on all of our exterior projects, and bathrooms and kitchen interiors.

Just a question. Why not just paint over it? No worries about paint coming off and I would guess your profit for painting that versus removing it would be about the same. Plus it would look better with fresh paint than cleaned.
