I recently had an issue where a photo owned by someone appeared on a webmasters account we use to make montages/videos/brochures. The vast majority of these photos are licensed by the company "godaddy" and are photos used to make websites.
Well after using the photos in some stills on a story/video I was contacted and told to remove the photo since it belonged to this person.
The world wide web, is simply that! WORLD WIDE. If I type in the term "power wash" as an advertising company and find some stills like those that are used on my site and they are not stamped, that means you are giving permission to the entire WORLD to use those photos.
If you do not want your photos used STAMP YOUR PHOTO. If you dont you are essentially putting them in a grab bag for the world to use in videos/brochures/their websites/ or even misleading others to believe that YOUR WORK is THEIR WORK.
Companies like Godaddy.com have a virtual library of photos for you to use on your sites and I wonder how many of those belong to someone else?
If your photo shows up later down the road on someones brochure YOU essentially gave it away by posting to a huge database (the net) and not copyrighting it. Calls for copyright infringement cant be met when youve never made a claim to it being YOURS. STAMP YOUR PHOTOS. Avoid a future problem for everyone.
Here is an article on how to stamp your photos.....
