We always treat residential concrete with a rich solution of bleach & soap and give it time to break it down. This allows us to clean much faster and use less pressure, we also feel it leaves a better, longer lasting job. Sometimes we will treat it after cleaning if it is really bad. 100sq less than 5min with 5+ gpms and 3000psi, I would imagine.

Iam going to buy a flat surface cleaner soon
The one that i was looking at was 24inch stainless steel tri arm unit, priced at $650. Is there a big difference with the tri arm unit over the twin arm unit.

But after reading some of the previouse posts i might be better of going for
the big boy our something like that.
The pressure washer that i use is a 20hp hot, 5.5gpm machine

Whats your thoughts on the above

You May Want To Look At A Regular 2 Nozzle Unit Or Opt For One On The Unit You Are Looking At ..... My Reason is That You Have To Divide The Gallons Per Min Flow By 3 And It Leaves Less Flow Per Nozzle And Presure Is Divided As Well , If You Had A 8gpm Machine It (in My Oponion) Would Be Fine ,i Have Several 5.5gpm Machines And I Have Used The Tri Arm On Both A 24 And A 20 Stainless Unit And I Prefer The Straight Arm Myself, And I Also Use A 15 Degree Tip Instead Of The Standard 25 , I Am Not Saying I Am Correct But This Is My Preference
 
I agree with Russ. A 20" two arm machine would be better in my opinion with a 5.5gpm. The 24-36" cleaners run better on 8+gpm machines.

Two 3gpm nozzles would give you more cleaning power than three 2gpm nozzles.

I had three 2gpm nozzles on my 24" cleaner and they got clogged more often because the holes are too damn small.

I also pre-soak the concrete just like Tim does. And like he said on really nasty jobs treating it afterwards helps.

Isn't it nice when your equipment dosen't want to work as hard as you do. I spray my concrete down first and let it dwell while we are doing something else.

Thanks for the advice on the flat surface cleaner, basically a 2 arm unit
would suite me better then a three arm unit, with a 5.5 gallon machine.

Which flat surface cleaner would you guys recomend. I have got a price for a stainless steel one it was a tri arm one at $650.

My supplier advised me to get a tri arm unit. But i have learnt to listen to peoples advice that use the equipment day in day out, through past exsperensies.
The size that iam after is 24inch plus. Would 5.5 gpm machine be capabile of driveing something bigger like the big boy flat surface cleaner.

Sorry for all the questions but i live in Northern Ireland and will be purchaceing from the States. So it is quite hard to get an ldear for what suites my machine best ( 20hp 5.5 gpm hot water )

One last question do any of you guys use these on tarmac ?

I would limit your surface cleaner search to a 24", with your flow and pressure. I ran a 20" classic with 5gpm@3000psi for a long time and it was a good combo. I think you could run a 24" with your machine and still be pretty efficient, due to the hot water.

Again, I have used both 24 and 20inch cleaners on a 5.5gpm. The 20" ran better. Since you have hot water, like Tim said a 24 might work well. The 28" big boy would feel too heavy for a 5.5gpm. 8+gpm pushes the larger machines better. If you have enough power, it will push the heavier machines up more, making it feel lighter and easier to move around.

Hi all

Russ it was a stainless seel whirl away. What do you think of this price.

Thankyou every one for your advise iam starting to get a better picture now
of what will work and what wont.
Iwill take a look at the other modiles montioned in the above posts.
