Sun bad for bleach?

I'm just assumed the sun would be bad for the bleach we use. You can see by the photo here we keep a couple hundred gallons of it on hand. We always keep a tarp over the containers to prevent the sun from hitting it.. But I'm kinda getting sick of looking at the tarps.

So what do you think, is my assumption correct? Or can I lose the tarps?

thanks guys!

It would be better to keep it in the warehouse if you can, Chris.

Hmm yea that is an option, I may look into. What about heat, would that accelerate the breakdown? Im assuming if it was black it would get a lot hotter than it currently is.

I would think so. Ours comes in black drums but I try to put in a blue drum when I carry it in the truck. Dont know what difference that makes. If any.

Chris do you make your dog sleep next to the bleach tanks?

Chris,

How long does it last before you reload the tanks?

Besides the finger test, is there any measuring tool or a litmus paper that can tell how strong is the chlorine? I think, I asked that dumb question before.. :)

Then he is good to go......I saw that video awhile back...impressive operation and an impressive business. We could all learn from him.

Then you should come to the New Orleans WC Extravaganza! in August. Chris is going to do a killer segment on marketing and direct mailing as well as sit on the expert panel for questions.

Sun light and heat both degrade the bleach, heat being the lesser of the two evils from my understanding. Tarps typically trap heat. I would do Micah's idea but not metal sheeting for the roof. Something that doesn't retain heat would be better.

Also, how long does it take you to go through that bleach? I would be wary about the strength if longer than a couple weeks.

Tell 'em how many houses you wash a week, Chris.
LOL.
