Summit Hose Reels any good?

Found this one listed for 175 and was wondering if I should take the plunge. I really, really need a reel.

We would have to order order one and I personally don't think it would be worth the extra cost. The M15-5 holds 350' of hose and the M20-5 holds 450' of hose. I don't see too many times you would ever need that much hose. I always ran between 200'-250' and never needed any more This is a good reel, maybe a step below a Cox Reel. Good reel for the money. This is what we install on our trailer rigs unless the customer wants something different.
 
I have had two cox reels for a couple years and I'm not a big fan of them. The swivels are iffy and wobbly, one of the welds on the drum broke, and the friction lock never worked well. I just got a big summit reel and while time will tell if its better, I love it so far, it seems better built and it has a true locking pin.
 
Had a Summit reel initially. Man I had to rebuild the swivel all the time and the powder coat went to hell from all the bleach leaking at the swivel all the time. Replaced with a Titan aluminum and a Super swivel two years ago. No leaks since and no rust.

The Titan reels are in my opinion top of the line. As with any product you pay more for the best.
 
We have a fairly new Summit. Seem's pretty good so far. They all need Superswivels, no matter what brand.

Had a lot of Cox Reels, Titans, two Hannays and another brand I can't remember.

We use all electric reels and the Summit and Hannays seem to be the best quality so far.

Cox reels are too weak in the center cylinder section where the hose wraps and Titans work their way loose all the time.

At least that has been our experience.
 
I have always been happy with my hannay reels, electric and manual.

My electric Hannay reel was built in 2002 but I got it used back in 2006 or 2007 and it is still running great.

I would highly recommend a Hannay hose reel, they are not much more than a good quality hose reel but will outlast just about everything out there.

Whichever hose reel you buy, spend the money and get a superswivel, they are the best out there and are rebuildable, there is a youtube video showing how to rebuild the superswivel.
