Stucco Question-

Hello everyone,

have been off the site for a while due to working crazy hours, school full time and taking care of the family. I am looking back to get involved again and of course throw some questions out there- I hate to say this but my work load has doubled and have LOADS of work due to other peoples misfortunes of having to go out of business. We were able to hold on and along with spring fever getting into people- work work work work......

Saturday I am starting probably the nastiest, mildew and biggest house I have ever done. New homeowners that are trying to fix a house up. This three story beast is mostly vynl however the first half of the first floor is stucco. I have never really dealt with this before. Do I use the same approach with the 15% SH or is there a different more effective way to tackle this???

What Mike said! We've got tons of stucco homes here and wash them the same way all the time. One thing you will find is that if the mold/mildew is really bad (dark green or black) it most likely has eaten through the paint. Especially near the ground line.

NO pressure, no matter what!! Like Larry said, that algae/mold can eat through the paint, and make it very flaky. Other than that, same process. Stucco actually cleans up very easily. Much easier than brick, not quite as easy as Vinyl...

Thanks for the insight. I will keep an eye out for that and def let the customer know before hand. B/A pics as well if possible.

I have used Jomax mixed with outdoor bleach to activate it on stucco. I applied with a brush and used light, light, light pressure and had real good results. You can watch it just come screaming off seconds after you apply it. That is my 2 cents worth. Its like $10 a pint or something like that for the Jomax, you can look it up. I found it at a Pittsburgh Paints store.
