Strange Physical Reaction

Tony if you're going to be hard headed and not go to the hospital, please watch for a red line leading to or near the site of your injury.

I had a girlfriend that cut her toe on piece of glass that was in her carpet and she lost her toe (the glass was dirty).
This was after 4 months in the hospital and almost losing her entire leg.

You guys know I can't go 4 hrs without logging in!

No fever last night, body aches are gone, I'm going back to work this morning.

There's no need for me to spend "your"money for something that is subsiding. (I get free medical for life from the VA - somebody has to pay for it and it's YOU everytime you pay your income taxes. )

I guess it's amoxycillin I'm taking instead of penicillin and it seems to be working great!

Speaking of the Navy, I caught worse stuff than this in the Philippines!:jester:

The toe is almost completely healed up and it never was inflamed or swollen. Maybe they are not connected at all.

Apparently this was when I had my stroke. I didn't know it was a stroke till about 8 months later.

I'm glad I had a full recovery.

Looking better than I ever have:

my vision went double. Covering one eye an object at 4 ft high looks 4f high, covering the other eye results in the same object looking 6 ft high. but there's a throbbing behind my eye.

Have any of you guys ever had anything like this?

Yes....the more I threw up the better it got! Ummm, but you should get to the Doc.

Transient Ischemic Attack.
TIA.
Mild stroke. Yep.
Spent many years as a medic and have seen this.

People have them all the time and don't even know it.
They think it was bad pizza or something.
It CAN become a very very bad problem if uncared for. Even after 8 months.

Best thing to do is have it looked at and tested by a cardiologist.

Adrian, a couple of months later I began having severe headaches in the front of my head. I've always had Vascular migraines in the back, but the frontal headaches were different so I went to the doctor.

The MRI showed that my left Carotid Artery was completely blocked and "fused" so that it was inoperable.

It also showed that I had cerebral atrophy (frontal brain shrinkage) that the Dr said was rarely seen in patients under their 70's. If I understand her right, she thinks it may have happened from the stroke combined with years of very heavy smoking (I stopped smoking in 2001).

Tests didn't show any other clots, so the only thing they could do was to try to keep me from having another stroke.

I changed my eating habits and started taking an aspirin a day. I didn't want to do on any cholesterol medications so I was able to bring my cholesterol from 275 to 206 by changing my diet alone. I lost about 95 lbs or so.

Now, over the past month and a half the frontal headaches are back. And they are moving to the sides and back. I did gain 20 lbs over the summer and the holidays so maybe that has something to do with it, but I'm losing that on a daily basis and will be back down to 200 lbs by mid February. There are other symptoms too and I was supposed to go back to the dr last week but my doctor broke her arm and hasn't been in.

We'll see how it goes.
