Stealing water

that guy didn't have a care in the world......this doesn't make a difference but the article said it was a 1,100 gallon drum,,,it doesn't look like its that big...especially on a single axle...people that do things like that are going to make it rough for us all....whether you know it wrong or not

Man do i hate people that stick their nose in everthying. No one else is allowed to make money, it's water not oil or gold. A thousand gal of water would probably cost $4.00, if they just made it easy on the contractor to get a State permit to pull from any hydrant in the state for a yearly fee, we could just do our job without looking over our shoulders.

I agree with Nick! :)

From what I've read they put you through in some areas to get a meter I can't say I wouldn't bend the rules too. There was a guy here that worked for a water company that sold meters until he got caught. So just because you see them using a meter here doesn't mean they are legit. I recently saw one on Craigslist. No I didn't buy it. That said I did have a legal meter until I figured out it was too much trouble and I don't take jobs that don't have a water source anymore.

I don't think a single axle trailer could haul 8,800 lb very far, let alone a mini pickup. Not 1,100 gal tank but besides the point I guess.

PS Is that a Malinois?

I'm not so sure I would have been as cool as the guy tapping the hydrant.YouTube might have got it's 1st extreme close up of a video camera going where the sun don't shine.
They need to put a gap fill on that tank and keep written permission in their truck that shows the HOA or PM gave them the OK to use the hydrant without a meter.

That just seems really petty to me on the part of the guy doing the filming. Man, what a life he must have. I may have lost control of the water hose for a minute or two and gave that guy and his camera a good soaking.

Guys ticked at the HOA and he's also a pwer, hmm.

That being said, we did have a hydroseeding co here backflow off a hydrant about 15 years ago.

Not metered and made a mess of the water supply.

boy aint that the truth

My last meter rental went something like this. Called to find out all the information about this counties regulations - 20 minutes. Went to get the meter where they told me to get the meter- was told wrong had to go about 5 miles to another place - 1 hour. $225.00 Cash deposit for a 3/4" meter. A 2" would have been a $900.00 cash deposit. Listened to some guy tell me very slowly about it - I knew it already but had to listen. - 15 minutes.

Used the meter to clean 40 buildings not small public buildings. Got a bill in the mail for a $51.00 meter rental fee - which had not been mentioned. We finished the job after hours so we had to take the meter back up 45 miles to return it - 2 hours total.

Total Water bill for water actually used $16.40 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then was told that they would just take the $51.00 and $16.40 out of my cash deposit and send me a check in 2-3 weeks!!

All that grief for $16.40 worth of water. And it was for a government agency that I was doing the work for.

I have to disagree with you all. I think that the guy should be reported for filling his 500 gallin tank from a meter. I think that guys like this do a couple of things.
1. He gives ALL of us a bad name. It means that he is willing to do something illegal to get the work, and perform in an unprofessional manner.
2. The way he is filling the tank is unsafe. It will taint the water supply. I know what kind of crap I have seen growing in a pressure washing tank. I have had clear slime that was beyond disgusting, and I certainly would not want to drink, or bathe in that mess.
3. It shows that he is not willing to play by the rules, and is unwilling to jump through whatever hoops and rules there are to get the necessary permits. I have and it is a pain, but, then so is paying taxes and all the other associated things with running a sucessful business.

Now, would I take a video of it? No, I think that a simple phone call would do.

BTW, the excuse that it is a new employee is bs. Why would he have the hose on the truck if he was not supposed to fill from the hydrant?

Also, that little Nissan or Toyota is Way overloaded with that 500 gallon tank.

I agree with Scott, in that, we are bound (or should be) by our ethical standards in this Industry. We all help one another in this Industry, that is what elevates our profession. Stealing is stealing. You can try to justify it anyway that you want, but it will always be wrong, whether you are as GINORMOUS as Prokleen or as small as the A-Team (me).
