Springs for Chem injector

I have used the spring out of a pen in one of my inj, I just cut it to the proper length and it's still working.
There's your tip of the day...lol

I always cut about a 1/3rd off my springs. The spring is there for two reasons, one to close or push the ball up so it won't siphon back out the bucket if you take the injector off and two to keep the ball from bottoming out and stopping flow when you are drawing chemical. In operation high pressure will close the ball for you spring or not, take for instance Bob's super "no spring" injector. Again the star washer in there is just to keep the ball from closing off flow (bottoming out) in the chemical pull mode. I often find if the injector orifice is wearing out it won't draw as well and needs some pressure off the spring. Also sometimes the ball and the o-ring at top go bad and the ball will stick. I usually find trimming off a third and I have no problems until the orifice wears out (opens up and gets rough) and time to put on a new injector.

Alexy have you found Bobs to work as well as the ss i tryed both of them and did draw test on them an it wasnt ever close.I might have got a bad one from Bob but i didnt find it to ever be close ??

Rinsing these things with fresh water is everything, same with roof pumps. I get years out of my stuff just taking an extra minute to rinse it.

They are not the same i had one of each and tested them and the draw is not the same. The ss would draw alot more with addition of hose.I buy from both Bob and Espec i have no dog in the fight just stating facts.

+1 on this. I use Bob's for 75% of my work. But to get the chem to pull through more than 200 feet of hose, the SSS is the only way to go. I also use the SSS on really dirty projects so I don't have to hit any part a second time!

Nick you are so right.....I keep a 5'er with fresh water to put the pick up hose in when I am not soaping. By doing this it rinses the downstreamer out and will clean the pick up tube out. Without doing this the downstreamer always tries to pull what ever soap is left in the pick up tube.

Give Paul K. a call, he can help you out.

Every part of the General Pump Hi Draw injector have individual part numbers, the parts can be ordered individually when you know the part numbers but that takes some digging and the parts are not very profitable for the vendors so if they help you out, help them out by ordering some other stuff while you are at it.

We use them 6 days a week for pulling caustic in the last 2.5 years we have only had one of 3 fail.
Will it draw with 200+ feet of hose?
Not sure but it will draw with 100 feet of 4500 PSI 2 wire hose with a 13 gal per min gun. Look for the highst GPM gun you can get to help a downstreamer work same set up with the cheap 501 series guns that draw 8-10 GPM won't draw anything.

Great point, I bought some of the Northern Tool guns and they would not pull any chemical. I swapped out guns and chemical will draw, even with the ball valve on the end of the hose cracked open it would pull chemical also.

I am not sure but the springs in both injectors look very similar, give Paul K. a call, there are several ways he can help you out.
