spring is upon us! what marketing weapons will you unleash?

Jackpot!

I passed out the cookies yesterday. That's one week after the mass mailing I did to all of the PMs I could find. I got 2 calls and gave 3 bids yesterday. Now I have about $120K worth of bids out there and almost $90K approved! Holy CRAP! That's more than the last 2 years combined and the weather hasn't even broken yet!

One guy raved about my marketing technique. He said that it was the most ingenious thing he had ever seen from a contractor. He went on to suggest that I attend his company's next manager's meeting where there will be 25 PMs from his company. All from a company that I didn't have high hopes for because they have their own construction and remodeling crews.

Just goes to show you that you never know until you try. I'm telling you, I'm as introverted as they come. I AM NOT A SALESMAN. But, thanks to this and other forums, I am armed with the information to assure these PMs that I know what I'm doing and that I can do the job right...

Good luck to you all and I hope your year will be as great as mine is shaping up to be...

Thanks again,

Keep going, the sky is the limit.

Got to love PWing Biz

yea i like the water<moving> design. Joel's sharp. yea Jeff thanks for the commercial advice:D what's your campaign look like? i was a little late for valentines day.

Joel,

I like those fliers , they look GREAT. I might use some of it if you dont mind

Good Looking stuff!

Jeff

Feel free, Jeff. The "Why Pressure Wash" is adapted from your newsletter and the PM letter is also base on your letter.

BTW I'm looking for more information that I can put in front of PMs and HOAs that tout the benefits of pressure washing. Something along the lines of statistics or hard numbers. Maybe how much property value is increased by washing or how much faster houses sell when they are clean.

I'm probably going to be doing a presentation for the PMs at the manager's meeting and would like to present some hard facts. I know the health effects of mold & spores is a good one. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the kind words. I've liked that water drops image since I first saw it. I even used it on my business cards...

I'd keep it simple. Push preventive maint!!!! and then Curb appeal. Then also sell them on you!!!!!!! Tell them you are the HASSLE FREE VENDOR. Push the ON TIME SERVICE. Be honest with them. tell them they are your bussiness, tell them you want ALL there business. hiring you will make it easier on them and their HOA's will notice a professional contractor.

I never really spoke to a group, but when Im speaking one on one with PM's I tell them all the above, I always speak to them professionally and I thank them after every project

Theres a lot that can be said, just dont go aver board with to many facts & #s

Just some of my thoughts I may be wrong and am not a natural saleman, but with time Im a lot more comfortable

Good luck Dude

Also if your doing condo complex type work. Go for the GUTTER cleaning. Its very profitable if priced & done right. You can make more than a couple grand a day some times

Thanks Jeff.

I'll keep those points in mind when I write my "speech". I spent almost an hour on the phone with one of the PMs and his greatest need is to have a contractor who is, above all, reliable and trustworthy. He told me that he always has a million things going all at once and he just wants someone he can call and know that they will do a quality job with NO HASSLES.

I will be making the fact that I can meet those needs my main focus.

Thanks for all of your help...

They deal with a lot of UN reliable contractor and if you can be the ONE that they never have to worry about, you'll have 99% of their work for years

I love marketing my business. Its kind of like fishing. The more rods you have in the water the more bites you get. The more bites you get, the more fish you catch. Now the other day I took my son fishing and we had three rods, but the fish were biting like crazy, and I was spending all my time puting worms on hooks, casting lines, reeling in fish on one rod when one was biting on the other. This might sound like fun, but part of going fishing is just sittin' around drinking a cold one and enjoying the scenery. Well this scenerio made me realize that this is what is happening in my business right now. I used to be excited when the phone rang, and lately I don't even want to answer it. I am so busy I don't have time to be doing all these estimates. I have 3 other guys working full time, so to expand more I'll have to get another truck.

I guess what I'm saying is my marketing is working too well.

Here are some things that have worked well for me.

-Get to the top of Google with search terms that you think your potentiel customers will search for ie. "pressure washing chapel hill nc" (Make a decent web site if don't have one).

-Professional looking signs on busy roads and corners. Something simple like "We do Windows" 452-3919 make sure the phone number is big. People won't have time to read details. Get them to call or go to your web site. Then they can get more details.

-Quality door hanger always worked better than flyers for me. I have not had time to deliver these for a couple of years. I ordered 1000 full color glossy 2 sided door hangers off the internet for around 350.00- 400.00 I still have a few hundred left. These really pay for themselves if you are slow and have some time to deliver them. You can pick your customers.

I will never waste my money on yellow pages again! I track where my jobs are coming from and the majority are from my website. Then refferals.

If "Angie's List" is in your area, get on it! Check out www.AngiesList.com

I can give you some tips on site ranking if you send me a personal message.

Greg - One thing about angieslist.com is that your customers have to submit your name and information for your company to be added. Its not like you can just go sign up and pay a monthly fee to be listed. Another thing that is weird is that the customer has to pay to be on angies list, not the contractor.

Yes I know. At first I didn't even know about it. I ask everyone who calls how they got our name, and people started saying "I saw you on Angies list and you have some great reviews". So I went online to check it out. Once you find that someone has listed you, then you are able to edit your profile add details etc...If you know that Angies list is in your area, but nobody has referred you yet, then when someone asks you for the name of a painter, plumber etc... You say "you might want to try joining Angie's list, because everyone who referrs people on there have actually paid to have access to the list. These people are serious about personal referrals and the contractors have no control over what is submitted, so you get honest opinions". If your customer decides to join, then they just might put you on the list. Someone put me on the list last year and now I have plenty of referrals, and have gotten a lot of work this way. Most A-listers tell me they hired us because we had the best reviews.
