Some cheap way's to advertise?

Sounds great Doug.

The best sales technique I have ever used was to wake up early print out a bunch of business cards that say I clean vent hoods , I clean concrete, I inspect fire equipment.. Then put a phone number and A website address.. Then just run in as many restaurants as humanily possible in one day , And Say these words to the manager " I pressure wash and clean and inspect kitchen exhaust systems" hand the a card and go to the next store.. Most of the time they will as right off the bat HOW MUCH?? If they do I give them a free estimate.. If not ( time is money) go to the next store...

Just looking through older threads.

This technique works. It just involves getting out there and too many times a contractor just wants to send out flyers and wait for the calls.

John's was a good post.

If any of you havn't used VistaPrint for postcards, business cards etc..., it's worth ck'ing out as they offer a lot of freebies.
Only problem I've had with their products are the auto magnet signs because they're not very heavy in magnet material and blow off easily ..Worth a peek!!!;)

Ive got a ton of stuff from them as well, buisness cards (regular and magnetic), notepads, pens, small magnetic calendars, stamps..etc etc

The quality and consistancy is not top notch...but worth what you pay for sure.

A cheap Way to Advertise is With the yellow pages online its free you just set up and account it will ask you what you would like to be looked up under make sure you put that you want to be looked up under business to business if doing comerical if you are doing residential also theres a button for that as well.

Another cheap way like SCRUBITT21 replied
Vistaprint is free you can get bussiness card, pens, and etc for free you just pay the shiping.

You can past out flyers but you dont want to put them on mail boxes or on wind shield wipers. You want to walk into the place of business and speak with the big man face to face. When you do flyers and usually you wana do like a free demo or a discounted one time price to get them under your belt.

Another would be Like what ron did with the candy jar, you can drop it off with a business you already do and the customers they get will see your logo and BAM! free Advertising.

Buy a nice magnent for your vechicles it might be costly but 100 bucks to get a magnet can bring in more than that with the advertising on your vechicle.

But the best way is word of mouth!!!

For me flyers beat newspaper adds handsdown anyday. And like others have said its better to hand them to them in person.

Right now I am mainly residential so a cheap form of advertising I am considering is Bandit signs.

Ive got small yard signs, but i want something for roads and highways

Has anyone had any luck with these?

We tried this years ago with little response. The best is word of mouth and repeat customers.OUR deck clients give us alot of refferal work.We still have alot of are first commerical clients of 20 years. And we dont have ad/numbers on trucks.Just do good honest work And you will grow.BEST WISHES...

How many Times did you try?

Besides looking into getting magnets for your vehicles, you should really consider vehicle lettering. I got my whole truck done for $215. The bed says "pressure washing". tailgate has company name, website, and phone #. Doors have large logo and phone #. Windshield has website. Front fenders have website.

You'd be surprised how many people see your truck daily. It's free advertising when you're on the road, or just parked at a store. I've received several calls saying they saw my truck at Walmart or somewhere. Plus looks more professional and established than magnets do.

I definately also agree with the others that word of mouth, and quick in person visits work well. The in person visits is how I got half of my accounts.

Newpapers are worst i my opinion... I agree flyers show more professionalism plus they can be posted on your website, craigslist (even though it doesn't work well), and by email.

Word of mouth is best... Join a chamber... You'll meet tons of people there! Do trade shows... Talk about bang for your buck... Our newspaper is $270/mo. For $3240 I can be in direct contact with thousands in trade shows and chambers... Chamber - $150ish. Newspapers are cheap customers.
