Solar chargers

Do the math Watts / Volts = Amps. It takes a lot of solar cells to charge a marine 12v battery. I've used them on boats but just to keep the batteries up between uses so the bilge pumps would operate. A 65 watt one is close to $500. That's a little over 5 amps an hour. If you have a 6 amp charger you use now how long does it take to fully recharge your battery after you use it? If you're talking a 5 watt solar charger forget it.

I have a 14-foot enclosed Trailer and I use a solar panel I bought from Harbor Freight to operate the lights inside the trailer instead of running them off my truck. I mounted the solar panel on the roof of the trailer with liquid nails. This works real well. Hugh

I know a guy that uses them to keep his batteries hot on his camper that stays parked at our hunting club.....they work well for him but he is also running a generator when he is at the camp.
I think his just helps keep a charge in the batteries so his clocks and such dont die. He is not using the batteries as much as we would on the pumps and such.

Does anyone use a solar charger to keep their batteries charged?

I'm thinking about ordering one from Northern to keep the batteries on my trailer hot.I use the battery for the hot box and the fatboy and was wondering if it would keep it hot all the time.

This is what i use in every battery i own, this stuff works and i have been using it for years. Check out the web-site and you will see that they have a product for everything that has a battery.

I use it in my trucks, Boat, machines, it works and is worth every penny!!
