Soft water on the go

What is the best and least expensive method for soft water on the truck?

I've been filling my tank to clean filters with soft water from my home. (I can clean filters 8 hours on two tanks)

But for the past year or so my coil cleaning jobs are bigger and I'm having to take water from the site.

What's is my best option?

I looked at it this summer. Don't know if it's the best but it's an option. Culligan makes a rechargeable softener for it's Left Coast customers that aren't allowed to flush brine into the sanitary sewers. I'm sure other companies do it too. It was much cheaper than DI or RO systems but only softens. Not totally spotless. You have to swap them out after so many gallons.

I was looking at auto dealer work but could never make the numbers work around here.
