sodium Perborate Exhaust Cleaning Specialist

Sodium perborate is used in laundry detergents and bleaches. It releases more hydrogen peroxide than borax when it reacts with water. Hydrogen peroxide acts as a bleach, and this action is aided by the alkaline solution also produced by the reaction.

Grant,

How/why do you know that?? (aside from just being an all-around bright guy:)) Would this be productive for you in cutting grease, etc?? Is is more aggressvie that Percarbonate? Drawbacks?

Jon,
Never tried it. Its an alkaline. It might be worth a try. I don't have any laying around but I will check with my chem guys and see what they think and if they have it.
Do you use it on wood?

Jon, are you going to do hoods or doing them now...

I like hoods better than wood...

Matt

Hey Matt,

...Good to hear from you. No hoods for me...just know that cutting grease and oil stains is similar and requires similar products. Plus a few of these greasers here really know their chems.....I read lots of the posts, lots of crossover info that I find useful, plus one of the few places where the people actually have a sense of humor:) jf

Jon,

We Just dont know better! Living like vampires will make you like that.

I use so many chemicals ... But there are a few applications where certian things work best.. Here we go.

For really heavy grease ( clumped inside filters) soak them in a sink full of hot water and Red Devil Lye.. ( just like caustic but it has a clinging type of effect that pure caustic does not.

Use purple degreaser and dawn on burnt on grease in the duct work... ( I don't know it just works..)

Caustic bead and hot water on everything else, including concrete.

On stainless steel hood I use spray car wax and hot water after cleaning then rinse with hot water ... no polishing or wiping required....

Chinese and Fish restaurants .. Buy a soak tank and soak the filters in Red Devil Lye and Dawn for 20 or 30 minutes... Watch the goo come off..

I have found also that 3500 psi @4gpm at 210 degrees works better than the litle elec machines....
I look at it this way , either the stuff comes real clean or you can blow it to pieces trying to clean it .. In this case you get new hood and filter sales...
