I would use the mix without the soap or surfactant as it might dry on the slate and cause a residue or haze or cloudiness. This method has worked good for me on a slate roof I did with my Big Bucket Truck.

zoom in and check the photos carefully...see some of the tiles look like the surface is chipped off

Slate will do that, it is kind of like layers on an onion. You can actually peel or tear them apart.

That comes with time, weathering and the fungus.

I would take some more pictures and show the homeowner the present damage and remind them that your method will not disturb them or damage them in any way.

Explain how you will apply the chems softly like garden hose pressure and gently rinse the same so they understand.

When it is like that, you will need a lot of applications.

There is a roof I bid on that is a lot worse, the fungus is so bad that you can't even see the shingles underneath so it will be many applications and probably a couple visits, depending on how good it cleans.

Charge accordingly.

An old roof cleaner friend of mine who I learned a LOT from is now deceased.
He suggested Sodium Hydroxide be added on really dirty black roofs.
I have used it in the mix on some filthy tile roofs, but never slate.
I used two gallons of 50 percent Sodium Hydroxide to 100 gallons total mix on FILTHY white tile roofs.'
It cleaned like a champ, no residue I could see ?
No residue on black roofs either.

Great idea chris, to show the homeowner, that should be standard. I can't wait to show y'all the after pix.

Good luck. Take lots of pics to show the next homeowner that has a slate roof how clean you can get it. Pics are a good selling tool.
