Should I send out postcards ?

I want to send out about 10,000 post cards next month. I have everything ready to go. I know the typical response rate is around .5%-1% and I am planning on getting that return rate. My question is, in your experience, is October a good month to do a mailer?

It is a good time to advertise up here. They want to clean up before the holiday season. Some of ours may also be because of cold weather coming.

How long of a time period should I leave in between each mailing?

week 1 first 2500

2 weeks after first round lands another 2500

3 weeks after the second round lands 2500

3 weeks after third lands last 2500

The concept behind this is the more times a customer sees you, your truck, or advertising material, the more chances you are giving them, to contact you.

But dont waste thease mailers, make sure their is a good call to action, something that will make them ACT NOW type of headline, Get on a consumers level, dont sell them on what you do, sell them on what you can do for them.

Its a great time of the year to send out post cards, etc. Its hopefully going to get some business yet this year. But the main focus is to load up for spring time.
When customers calls from this mailing, get out and be very prompt on bidding the work now! But let the customer know it may be better to serve them in the eairly spring.

Its worked great for us for the last 18 years.

Great advice as usual Ant, Thanks for posting that.

Have 7000 going out next week, and I'll be very happy with a 1% return. Targeted only homes over 600,000.00 hope the snowbirds are ready to spend some money to get things cleaned up....

thanks anthony great read on your website ..

I have a question...I have a choice 5000 4x6 full color post card 125.00 plus postage or I deliver the same card and treat it as a door flyer no postage ..just a walk in the park (door to door)

I assume it will generate less of a return..because its a flyer not a post card ...but how much less ? anyone know the answer ?

Face to face will always bring a better return. Don't rely on one form of media either. A flier one week, a postcard a few weeks later, a radio spot another week, etc... diversity is always good.

That's alot of walking

I'm curious about a door hanger vs a post card return also. Seems like a door hanger would have a better chance of getting looked at. I'm of course talking residential.

What say Ant?
