Shortly after I posted earlier, maybe around 2 hours earlier I was talking on the phone with Tony and Servicemagic called and wanted to bug me some more.
I let them know that I have wasted too much of my time with them and they just keep calling and bugging me so I told the guy to stop calling and that I have told others at their company to stop calling numerous times and I hanged up the phone, maybe I should call the police and file charges???
Not even 5 minutes later a call came in with the caller id number showing:
0
That is it, no phone number so I answered and hanged up and finished talking with Tony. They called back 3 more times and I answered and it was an automated message from Servicemagic so I hanged up the phone again.
Wow!!!!
What a pain in the ass to do business with them but when you cut the cord, they just can't take no for an answer. If they keep up or call anymore I think I will just call the police for phone harassment.
Maybe they are reading these boards? If so, quit calling me you bunch of Dumba**es, your product SU**s, your customer support and service SU**s and you really need to learn how to listen to the people that are supporting your payroll.
Ok, enough of my ranting. hahaha

Monday I changed the zip code areas that I accept leads from to all local. I was tired of 85% of my leads coming in from 30 to 45 miles out with an almost zero closing rate. Nearly all the leads I received were people going with the lowest rate and I am not the lowest priced company.

I have been a Service Magic contractor for over 5 years. When I first started, leads were $5 and were sent to 2 or 3 companies. As I am now on their "Preferred" list, I only get direct leads, no other contractors get them. The closing rate is almost 100%. There is an occasional clunker, but they will credit my account. I am not required to accept all "normal" leads - only those I want.
SM has been an excellent resource for me over the years, though I understand my experience is better than most. I currently show 40 or 50 reviews (all positive) so customers feel pretty comfortable with me right from the beginning. This month alone, I have received 4 leads, 3 scheduled and one I declined to bid (a large hotel). Approx $3000 in sales at $18 per.
The advantage to the customer is the service guaranty of up to $500 for the customer as well as customer reviews. On a separate note, I highly recommend Angie's List. I have never paid them anything, yet get leads all the time. Treat them right and it will work very well for you.
