SEO on your signature on bulletin boards

If you look at my signature below I just linked a couple of phrases to my site such as "parking garage cleaning" to my site.
Does that really help in the SEO Dep't and if it does why not put a boat load of phrases and link them to your site?
When is enough....enough?

John, backlinking keywords does work but you have to use them in various ways. (article marketing, press releases, blog postings). There are a lot of places that only let you put two or three backlinks in a post or article plus it looks a little "spammy" if there are too many backlinks so I generally stick with three or four keywords. You have three good keywords that are backlinking to your site so I would stick with those so you rank well in the SERP's (search engine results page) in Google. Start a blog also. You can start one within this site and in your blog, you can also add your keywords there for some added link juice!

How are you guys doing this? I can't figure it out! This seo stuff is driving me crazy, I don't understand it. Yesterday I was in the second position in Google places, in the fresno area. I added a picture and now I am nowhere to be found. If someone took the time to explain some basic seo stuff in English. I would really appreciate it. I just don't get it.

My places page disappeared yesterday. Couldn't find it anywhere. I emailed Google and they said they are having some problems but to go to your dashboard and press edit page and then publish. If that does not work in 24 hrs, you can email them and they will look further in to it. My page showed back up late last night when I checked before bed.

As far as SEO, there is a lot of info out there with just a few google searches. Good Luck!

Yes John it Can help you, but be careful.

Russ is right on that. If you get carried away with too many backlinks, Google may consider it spam and put you in the "sandbox" and could drop you in the ranks. Pick a few and stick with those. A backlink campaign consists of picking a few keywords that your customers type into "Google search" to find the service you offer in your area and dominate them.

Wait a few days or so. Sometimes when you make changes to your site, it goes through a "Google Dance" but will come back. SEO is very time consuming in a competitive market and if I had to do it again from scratch, I would hire someone.

Would a web search of the exact "washing" phrases from two different computers on the same network rank differently on the same search engines for both if one computer visits this site vs a computer that has never visited this site?

To check true ranking should you clear you cache/history?

Ranking is a function geographic region also?

Hey Chris-- do this in your signature edit on your settings-- this is just an example for you---
<a href="http://www.gspressurewashing.com">pressure washing houses</a>
It has to be done like that but you can put anything in the text area instead of <pressure washing houses> I actually put EBay in there to see if it works.. And it does..lol But of course I took that right out.
Also so you know my 11 yr old and her friends no more about computer stuff then I do which tells you how good I am at this.. Which is terrible times 10.. Good luck

Thanks John, I will give that a shot later today. Thanks

Forum links do not count as much as they used to. The key is diversification of link types.

Yep ... Google figured that out a few years ago and it was pretty obvious in the last "Panda" update. Google eats up original content and it pays off to update your site everynow and than with a page of original (not copied) content. Older, stale sites will lose page rank after a while.
