Sand Joints

Who cleans sand joint pavers? I have come across several jobs and am not sure how to do them properly. The surface cleans blows all the sand out of the joint. Is there a way to clean them without blowing out the sand?

I have a friend who cleans them, rakes new sand into the joint, and then seals it in with Sand Joint Stabilizer from Prosoco. That's a big process though and I have some customers who just want them clean.

Any thoughts?

I clean them all the time and as long as you don't use too much pressure, the sand should not blow out. It may move it around, but a very low-pressure rinse after cleaning should push the sand back into the joints from which it came.

i do the same. really pisses people off if they lose sand. had it happen once, had to resand

I do them as well and use Low Pressure and Heat.

Gum is the worst thing to get off of them and if you concentrate too much pressure in one area it will take the sand out, I'm making a template to lay down to take gum off and see if it works better.
