Safety Gear question

Laying here in bed wondering as to if any safety gear was required during pressure washing jobs? I know for boating there's a whole list of items needed if operating a boat during day as well as at night ... This lead me to wonder if our line of work had such requirements as well; if so, then were could i go to find out? (See this is what happens when i cant sleep ... The voices in my head start asking all these random questions)

Safty gear. Nah. Just grab you shorts and flip flops mix the caustic right after washing your hands. Remember to spay as close to your feet as possible test the water by putting hand in front of the nozzle and breath deep. (only if you want end up in the hospital).

Seriously. Long pants. Good leather boots wear a respriator wear chem resistant gloves when mixing chem have water close to rinse yourself have saline solution for your eyes never take your eye off what your doing keep you body away from the stream and be very very careful ot is easy to hurt yourself bad with this stuff.

Boils down to common sense and paying attention to what you are doing.

If you're walking a roof or cleaning from some sort of boom or lift, then a harness is in order. It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop.

Working with chemicals can be harmful if not down right dangerous. Wear protection as Jon mentioned and pay attention to what you are doing. Don't get distracted and teach others around you NOT to distract you.

Don't get in a hurry. I'm sure there are several (or more) stories here of contractors getting in a hurry or not paying attention that have injured themselves, someone else or damaged property. This type of work is not a game. You must, at all times, respect the power of your equipment and chemicals. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

In most cases, it's good to have someone working with you to watch your back too (just in case).

Alfredo there is a lot of safety gear required and you need to know the proper way to use that gear. Safety should be our number one priority while we are working. Everything we do as contractors has safety standards involved from operating our equipment to using tools, ladders and having the proper PPE while we are at work. There is a lot to learn about safety by all of us. It's a never ending process for me personally and should be a part of your continuing education curriculum because as our industry evolves so does safety. Give me a call tonight and I'll try to answer any questions you have.

What is a good website for purchasing fall protection gear?

Not sure about your state but here in Maine there is nothing REQUIRED by law.
