Safely filling a low hp gas tank

Tony Shelton

BS Detector, Esquire
This has got to be the dumbest question in the world.

I've got a 11 hp motor on a filter cleaning unit that has the small gas tank kindof under the burner and a little hard to get to. It's hard to see at night and I almost never fill it without spilling some all over.

The tank lasts about 2 hrs so we have to fill it up 2 or three times per night. Do you guys have any suggestions for filling this thing up?

I love a nice design.

I have a metal gas can with a funnel.

I think we talked about aux tanks before and these small HP motors are gravity fed.

It's just a pita.

Tony,
You can get a fuel pump to attach to your motor to draw gas from a larger reserve tank like a marine type setup. We are building (as we speak )twin 18hp motors and pumps with 2-12 gal external fuel cells. We just lost an 20ft enclosed trailer with alot of equipment in it because of fuel spillage!!!40k

There is a guy around here that has a gravity system. Two 5 gallon plastic gas cans swinging on a tee, with a hose running out the top. He has been running that way for years. Some day I am going to get a picture.
