ok so received a lead through service magic..... single story 1100 sq.ft. with exterior gutter cleaning. quoted $145 sold the job easy enough....
call the day before to confirm time, windows secure etc.(rental prop.).

Customer was completely confused explained that I (me? moi?) had called the day before and canceled due to the distance and that she should call labor temps LOL  after explaining it was not I that called she dug up the number on her caller id and gave it to me. I called expecting a fly by night operation.... nope a well known franchise was behind this silly ass unprofessional BS lol!! here is the the price breakdown that took me 90 seconds in my head to compile for over the phone quote. 50-70 minute drive =15-20$ round trip, 12$ for the lead and maybe 6$ for chems total 40$.. 45min -hour to complete so 105$ profit... another five star review from the service magic customer =priceless :D

How would the other company have known that you were awarded the job?

They wouldn't have to. If the other company is also with Service magic and DID NOT get this lead then they figure another company DID. They call up and say something along the lines of, "Mrs. Jones, please." When the lady gets on the phone they say, "Hi, Mrs. Jones, this is John . . . you found our company through Service Magic . . . I was calling to inform you that we will not be able to service your property for pressure washing due to the distance involved. I do apologize. To help make up for it, I can give you the name and number of another reputable company that can serve your area."

Lying crooks.

It amazes me how many people are out there dedicating their time to find slick ways to screw people. If they spent just as much time doing it an honest way they would probably be just as busy and make more money.

they prolly just pressed the customer "do you mind telling me who you went with" or she might have just told them she went with me and the price unsolicited? or maybe like Adam suggested?
