Run at full rpm?

I usually ran my PW at about 3/4 power, which has worked great. I was recently told that if I didn't run the motor at FULL power when I'm using heat, that it would damage the burner over time. Anyone know if this is true? It is a 4.8gpm, 3000psi Hotsy if it matters.
 
If its 110 volt with a generator running it slow does something bad - I think the voltage is lower which causes more amp draw and this heats it or 'wears' it out?

If its a 12 volt I think the voltage stays the same it just isn't putting out as many amps so there may be draw from the battery.

It has a 12volt battery. I'm just worried because at full rpm it sounds like it's gonna take off, or rattle itself apart. Plus, it uses more gas.
 
You are not getting maximum volume or pressure when you reduce the RPM's. Also, especially in Arizona, you need the cooling from the flywheel, since it is an air cooled engine. In my opinion, it is a false savings to reduce the RPM to save fuel money, because it costs you more in wear and tear on the machine, and in productivity.
 
I ran 2 13hp hondas at quarter throttle trying to conserve water while washing cars on the lot but thats not something I would do with a larger more expensive motor that costs alot more to replace. I was always told the same thing about running it at full throttle but trying to rinse cars off with minimal water was not something I could do when using full throttle
