rubber motor mounts

i am in the process of rebuilding my rig and will be mounting two motors on my trailer. one is basically a back up but will be plumbed to run with the other motor at any given time. this will give me the capability of running 7 to 12 gpm's but for the most part 7gpm will be my bread and butter. the motors will be mounted directed to a steel floor so my question is should i add rubber motor mounts? my original layout did not have them but i am wondering if this would be a smart move on my part. your opinions are always welcomed and appreciated.

thanks,

rando

Rando, I used to have the rubber mounts and they tore up. I just use carriage bolts and nylon nuts now. You didnt have them before so it shouldnt matter now.
I think the rubber mounts are good for smaller engines (9 hp and under) because their not as heavy.
Someone else here might use them and love them and thats great. Im only saying I didnt have any luck with them.

What kind of machines did you end up building?

one engine is a 13hp honda and the other is an 18hp kohler. the 13hp came off a pull around unit and does have the rubber mounts. i was hoping you had some input william as you seem to know every trick in the book. i'm goint to check that out. yeah you're right chad that the 18hp could be a little heavy for the mounts.

william, i just looked at the mat online. it comes 4 x 6 but i could not find the thickness. do you know how thick it is?

I have these rubber "donut" shock mounts. $1.50 each.

looks good

hey russ,

they look good but i'm going to try the douse a horse mat. the 4 x 6 is a perfect size for what i need and should absorb the vibration from the engines. now get offline and ship me my order.

thanks,

rando
