All this sounds great, as I am just getting into the roof cleaning. I wish I had a way of understanding the details. I know you need a pump, something about a 12v, ShurFlo (and other brands), air compressor, 1/2in something... Can a brother get a little help!?

I suggest you try your best to get an air pump set up from the start. Here in Tampa, I know just about every roof cleaner, and none I know are still using 12 volt pumps, except the guys who only do an ocassional roof, here and there. It never ceases to amaze me that people will dump many thousands of dollars into pressure washing set ups, yet balk at investing about a 1000 dollars in a decent roof cleaning set up.

Once I realized how cheap I could set up an air pump, and once I finally started using it, I was kicking myself for not doing it sooner. $500 compressor from Harbor Freight, $289 for a Yamada pump off eBay, $175 for 200' of 5/8" Mean Green hose, shiped (which is good so far) and a few bucks for filters, ball valve, and nozzles (or $50 for the awesome stainless steel Master Nozzle with a lifetime warranty if you mention the RCIA.) All that for around $1000, and I don't have to worry about accumulators, relays, batteries, or fried pumps. I'm never going back.

Well Josh, u can not say I didn't "bug you" to get an air pump sooner, but then I am slightly partial,
since it was me who turned the roof cleaning world onto air pumps years ago.
The Mean Green Hose was tried by us years ago, and did not stand up (for long) to the roof cleaning chemical, but then, we never rinsed the hose or pumps out either.
We still use it, but we use the 3/4 Mean Green as a water hose for plants.
Be sure to rinse it out Josh, or it will bubble on you!

I got the Mean Green to try it, because a roof cleaner named Dave from Roof Refresh in Raleigh said he uses them, and gets about a year, or 300 roofs out of them. If thus doesn't work out, I can try the blue 5/8 Kuritek from PWP. What hose do you use, Chris?

The Mean Green is soft, light, easy to use, but it bubbled on us in a short time.
There is a thread on the old RCIA Forum about this.
We use the Red (same as the blue) 5/8 Kuritek from Lori at PWP.
We prefer the Red, because Apples are Red, not blue
