ron, around here all you have to do to get a bike registered is take the finished bike along with all receipts to local dmv or state trooper headquarters to have it inspected and numbers issued for it,i have been fabricating one off race parts for jap bikes as a hobby since 96,so i have milling machines, lathes with digital readouts, and a watercooled miller syncrowave 250 tig welder in my garage,
this is my first attempt at building a harley and it will be fun to see how differently the jap and the american bikes are.
i am looking forward to getting a plasma cutter soon for help in the modification of the sheetmetal.
the bike you are reffering to without the swingarm actually rides on a bearing that is internally located within the wheel, incidently the bearing came out of a helicopter and is valued at $6,000 alone.
i have seen exile's bikes and they are very unique,if you go to http://www.combscustomcycles.com/ and look at the blue bike you will see the bike i am somewhat trying to duplicate.
