With the costs of fuel on the rise, it's going to effect the bottom line for all of us. I got to thinking about it and was wondering how folks are handling it now. Please respond to the poll to indicate if you factor it in to the service or add it as a line item to your ticket. Some jobs are closer than others....

Good question Beth,

Currently I only show the cost on things done on job, I dont want to confuse or show added cost that may buck a job...

I also have not risen prices because of fuel cost yet, but It may come down to that....

i am going

to raise the price on my fleetwashing by $5 per rig. Let the chips land where they fly. I was being lazy and useing diesel in my wash unit[road tax] but this year[im going full time] i have a 250 gal fuel tank and am going to use home heating oil[no road tax] in my wash unit.
I am tempted to use it in my truck but the $5000 fine will prob. stop me.[they are 2 diffrent colors but #1 home heating oil is the same quality you get at the pump.]

Ron, if you ask your fuel supplier, he will probably admit that the only difference between on & off road diesel is the color. So if you use much deisel in your pw, off-road is less expensive.

We are close in price $1.40 for reg gas and or diesel.
Going to the accountant next week.
I sold my house and am looking to buy one as we speak so the accountant made sure it looked like the buissness made a little money last year. Did'nt want it to look like a cash drain.
This will be my first full-time year.
I have all my write-off's saved up. Everything but my truck is paid off. My new house will have enuff property to build a garage and i will use that as a write off also.
We need to have the PWNA convention in the BAHAMAS so i can write that off also. Then i might join.
Has anyone read the RICH DAD books?
They can give you a good outlook?

I say we do it in Cancun, Have you every been there , good lord!

Ron your not suppost to make any money the first 2 or 3 years!

it 22 degrees here at 8:27 , time to go to work!

I always buy red dye for my rig, no taxes.

Red dye appox. $1.29, no tax
Reg diesel appox. $1.65

Keep in mind we here in CA support you guys with our high prices.

My understanding, and it may be wrong, is that the reason CA gas prices are higher than most other places is the environmental regulations put on the refiners/suppliers.

If it wasn't for the fuel refiners having to create so many different varieties of fuel for various locations around the country, fuel prices would be a bit cheaper. However, the environmentals wouldn't be too happy. Gotta keep the tree huggers happy.

Are there any 400 year old oak trees in FL? or is it just the people that are old?

Our fuel prices are artificially raised in order to keep all the seniors in Florida:D We just blame it on the tree huggers!

I don't know how it is with private vehicles, but if the DPS catch a big rig driver running off road diesal, its a hefty hefty fine!

During the drought i charged a water surcharge. Nobody seemed to mind so if gas prices get any higher I'll do like the trucking companies and add a fuel surcharge to each job to help balance things back out.

I don't think folks will mind a few extra bucks. Around here if you wash your house you got money anyways. Plus $3 extra per job times 15 jobs per week thats an extra $45 per week. Not much but it will help without upsetting customers.

CA has always had higher gas prices long before they started on the EPA stuff. And they rip us off too, say one refiner has a small fire, all of them raise prices.

Anyway that use of red dye in anything other then off road or equipment brings a fine, if I were to put it in my truck tank and get caught the fine is the same, not to mention they could take the truck also.

Now as to Grant and his 400 yeawr old OAK TREE, that was his alter ego sitting up there making a fool of himself.

Looking at some of your fuel prices yall got it made. I pay 1.55 a gallon for gas and 2 a gallon for kerosine.

To fill everything on my truck costs around 80 bucks. My average fuel costs are $40 a day....ouch...

According to Quickbooks 15% of my operating expense last year was fuel.

Even worse 30% was advertising.

Off road diesel also known as many things:

Red dyed
farm diesel
construction diesel
off road

And a few other names I am have seen posted over the years.

All of them a tax free and colored so the cops can catch you IF you try sneaking it in your trucks.

Here in CA we have to sign for it at least once at each place we buy it. I get mine from Ultramar gas stations. Some sell it, some don't.

Look in the yellow pages under fuel, gas etc. then off road or the other names above.

I would like to add, that off road fuel is a different color, but also it has a higher sulfer content than road fuel. This is what they check for when you get pulled over for it. And trust me it sucks when you are caught.

Ron, if you ask your fuel supplier, he will probably admit that the only difference between on & off road diesel is the color. So if you use much deisel in your pw, off-road is less expensive.
