Removing staining from wood fence?

I need advice on what type of cleaning agent I need to use to strip stained wood on 8K lin ft of fencing?

FYI, HOA wants to strip current staining and restain. Going to view it today.

If you are trying to remove stain from 8k feet of fence and do not know what to use, May I suggest a very special "cleaning agent" ?

Ok, went by to view today, but this fence is coated w/ an oil based paint. Tested a few boards w/ sodium hydrox followed by oxilic didn't budge. Hit it with pressure same results.

1st off- why are they stripping this?..Looks pretty good to me?..Whats there plan after its stripped??

Looks like a solid stain- How did you apply the Sodium Hydrox??

Ive stripped a few decks with solid stain and you need a dedicated applicator/sprayer, even a pump up sprayer will do, with a strong sodium hydrox based stripper- apply it let it dwell- wash it off- What are you using to apply the chemical?

Oxalic is after whatever your stripping has been stripped

I would be more interested in why the client wants this stripped
 
Yeah, that's what I said when I saw the fence too. I used a pump up sprayer to apply the sodium hydrox, let dwell hit it with the pw, as a test. I will make the mix hotter a test it again, But I will be using a dedicated system to perform the job. Purpose: customer want to restain it w/ a darker wood finish.

Oil based paint.............paint..........not a typical wood fence stain. I would try paint stripper/paint remover and see how long it takes, how much chemical it takes and expect them to have a heart attack or just not respond to your proposal. Paint will not come off like typical wood stain. It might be more cost effective to rebuild with new wood after you consider how much time and chemical it will take to do that much fence.
OR

Take the fence apart and have a crew with sanders just sand the paint off and put the fence back together.
 
Yeah that probably needs that heavy duty paint stripper. I used to do decks and people would use solid behr stains and sodium hydroxide wouldn't even touch it. Had to get the stripper in the metal cans. Dads or something like that. It is tedious, time consuming and dangerous. That stuff melts vinyl siding. They have new stuff out too. Citrus based. A lot less dangerous. Charge an arm and a leg or pass. Shane Brasseaux or Everett Abrahms could steer you in the right direction.
 
Yea really,..where's the confusion on this,..if they wanted it lighter,..then I'd replace the fence,Ha,Ha,...But seriously,..they want it darker,..so, by the looks of it you could simply DS a house wash, or at most a solution of SH/SH let dwell for a few minutes and wash off,..Neutralize and and stain with the darker color.

*That's the only good thing about solid stains,..they can be easily gone over with a darker color,..even a color change,..fairly easily.

I would definitely opt for the repainting first. If you are stripping the paint to go back to a wood look, this will take a lot of time and work. It takes serious amounts of time to do it right. Most of the cleaning described for cleaning the wood looks pretty solid, Let us know how it goes!
