Remote Electric Start

Mr. DeRosa or anyone for that matter. Not that picky as long as the advice is good. Could someone tell me where I would go to get the necessary supplies to turn a Hot Water pressure washer on and off by remote? Kind of like a remote car start? Everyone down here looks at me like I'm crazy. Probably because I'm in South Georgia and people start pulling out Parka's and long handles if the temp drops below 30 degrees. I just want to be able to turn the burner and pressure washer off at a distance and a generator too. We're using a closed trailer and it would make life easier.

That would be a great idea. I have looked into the remote controls and never found anything under $900.00. Maybe John knows of other sources.

You don't think there might be interference with the enclosed trailer? Is it metal? I guess you could put an antenna on the outside for the system.

I would like to get one but not for the burner.

Well I'm helping start a business and am a bit green on some issues still. However with 5 years of management in the transportation sector, I can tell you that if you don't stop employees 20% of your fuel will get burnt while they are in the head and left the equipment running. The burner part may be a little bit of over kill. I just know how fuel is and once it comes time to have paid employees I want to have "tools" in place to help make it easy. Because if it ain't easy and you aren't watching, unfortunately they simply want follow through.:(

Remote

I only have a cold water soft pressure rig but would love some insight on possible remotes to turn the chemical on/off. I can not wash in the summer without a helper to run back and forth to cut the chem on/off before it dries...

I was thinking something similar about the chems, not really about starting or stopping the machine or burner.

It would be nice to start/stop the chems from far away or to be able to switch between chems.

Try calling Brad Bock at NU-SHINE MOBILE PRESSURE WASHING LLC 509-967-2664 or contact by email at nushinemobile@msn.com. He developed a really nice system with chem controls and remote start stop features.

He has been using the system himself for several years and really has it tuned up nice.

I called Brad Bock today and talked to him for a while. He is a great, intelligent guy with a lot of great ideas.

I told him about the MIchigan Round Table and how he could get to show his remote control system to the guys there that might be interested. He is going to start making and selling them as he has a lot of experience in those devices and tried a lot of them that are currently on the market.

I gave him links to be boards, hopefully he will join here, PT State and
The Grime Scene. I told him about all the great people here and everywhere and told him to give it a try. Hopefully he will.

From what he told me, it was able to have several solenoids so you could turn on/off the burner, switch from different soaps, start/stop the engine, etc...

Not sure on the exact cost but when we talked about the off-the-shelf units sold everywhere, he mentioned that almost all of them are sent to give a signal, not continuous electricity that is why they will open car doors, arm/disarm alarms, turn on lights that have relays with them, etc... (units sold at automotive stores for accessories).

He told me that the few that would work were not made good enough and would not last in this type of environment.

I am not sure if he wants to divulge any of the info yet, so I think it would be better if I don't discuss details until he joins, if he does.

I guess I may be prejudice a little, but it sounds like a lot of expense, hassle, and ripe for problems. When I'm out washing I want to make money, not dink and dunk around looking to troubleshoot problems. Then I would also have the expense of keeping a ton of spare parts on hand because if I'm too cheap to do that, then I screw myself by not finishing jobs on time or at all, ruining relationships, and in the end, drastically affecting my bottom line.

Mine cost $20 but I had to modify the internal relay wiring to make it do what I wanted. It Starts a warmmed up engine and kills it but will not choke it. A solenoid could be used to perform that function.
