Residential and Commercial Pressure Washing Specia
The sidewalks at the house I washed today are a disaster. It appears like it has some sort of coating on it and the coating is coming off. I don't know if it was rekrete or what it is. The homeowner is getting ready to sell the house and would like to improve the appearance of the sidewalk. The home and sidewalk is only 4 years old.

Any suggestions on restoring the appearance of the sidewalk.....thanks

Rekrete doesn't do that.It's an oil absorbing/eating powder.It looks as if the cream was destroyed from years of weather or someone used acid on it.

it wouldnt be from years of wear i dont think because he said it was only 4 years old but I do agree that it looks like it could be acid damage or something like that

Looks like someone tried to put a skim coat over the surface of the old concrete to make it look better. My father in law had the same thing done to his patio a few years back and after a season or two it began to flake off and look like that.

Why not try a concrete resurfacing like Celeste does it will improve the curb appeal much more than a coat of paint.
 
That's called spray crete, very popular product in the sw. Sand or soda blasting might work.

Everyone here will either spraycrete again or tile. The products only been around for 9 years or so. Surprised it looks that bad..
 
Staining would be our recommendation - I personally think that a painted coating, while fresh looking, may give the appearance of the seller trying to hide something. An acid stained look (that is a LOOK, not necessarily an acid treatment) is quite "in" right now and with the variations of the topcoat, would provide a really appealing & updated finish.

I agree, that's why I suggested an exterior floor paint (make sure it holds up in direct sunlight).

I used to resurface concrete with patterns, many colors, etc., but it runs $4-$10 a sf. If they're selling it I'd go the cheap route.

Good idea Celeste, those acid stains are pretty affordable too, right?
 
They are not expensive and the better part of it is, these are truly NOT acid based. They are safe for the applicator and surroundings. Stain, seal, done........and leave your company information for the new homeowners so some other pw'er doesn't come screw up the cleaning later!

Sweet! That's a great add on. I may look into staining. Any suggestions for someone that has never done it?
