Question for big job

My painter buddy landed a contract to pressure wash and repaint a large warehouse. Something like 2000ft long. Problem is only one water spigot. How should he tackle this? He needs to supply 2 or 3 powerwashers @ 3-4 gpm each.

Buffertank with a booster pump seem like the way to go?

I've never done anything like this. Any advise appreciated.

Start by buying larger GPM machines. Or buy/rent one much larger.

water line to feed a tank on a unit that is holding the washers., presumably a truck or a trailer. Size of tank will depend on the water source flow. Do a test with a 5 gallon bucket at the water tap. Then find out how many GPM will be pulling from the tank and then you can figure the size of tank you need.

Sounds like he should just rent a machine. Supply house here rents hot water trailer units for 365 a day.

Do you know any tricks hooking up to in ground sprinkler systems? I've dug around in a few of those boxes and haven't seen anything with threads.

You normally have to get them from a irrigation supply store normally. I found a few on e-bay though. Here we have 3 types, 3/4", 1" and the purple ones that are reclaimed water.

They are normally in the small green round boxes (at here they are).

Great question Jburd I've been meaning to look into that myself and figure out how to connect to a sprinkler system relatively easy

What type of pressure washers are you running, quality ones that run the pump at half the engine speed or home depot specials that run at the speed of the engine. Half speeds you can run off a float tank, full speeds you need some pressure or else you run into a whole ton of other issues.

What I would do, find a cheap pallet cube tank, typically 330 gallons. Put a float valve in and split the bottom down to how ever many feeds you have. Put a garden hose to the tank, give it a head start and move the tank up and down the warehouse to where you need it with a pallet jack. Easier to have one long quality hose filling the tank and shorter hoses to the pressure washers. Long hoses to the pressure washers with only a gravity feed for water pressure can bring on other problems. If you keep them short you can keep your problems to a minimum and if you need longer hoses go the high pressure route.
