Pwna?????????????

Other bbs hide IP’s??????????? I wonder why….DA

Do I think its Beth directly? No… do I think she knows it happens? Yes

Why are you dragging me into your little fray?

We on TGS hide users IP's to members. However the moderators can see them. We feel they are the only ones who need to see them. In these days of identity theft, it's best (in my opinion) to keep them private from the general public. Your mods can use them to help catch problem users.
Hope this is helpful.
Beth

Some IPs are dynamic some static and for the most part tell you little information (unless your from the FBI, CIA or some other 3 letter acronym). Not much can be done with an IP address. I use them to track problem posters and people trying to register more than one user name.

amongst friends....no public viewing....open to share opinions without fear of censorship or repercussion......BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT LINK TO THE ARTICLE EVERETT WROTE ABOUT HIS NEGATIVE FEELINGS ABOUT BBS'S??? It was on here one day....then whooosh......gone.

Here it is.

I just would like to make a short reply to his article regarding internet bb. I found the article just a little condecending to those use these bb as form of personal business. To be worried about ID theft and contractor competence is a paranoid reaction based on little evidence with regards to contractor bb.

If one would conceder PWNA closed site-does this give them a validation for a safe bb. I think not-I could be a circus performer & I could be a member of PWNA. With a one day class & $399 I could be cert. to clean a hood and/or stain a deck. IKECA on the other hand require a business license and proof of insurance both comp and liability.

The internet as we all know is a line extension of a telephone. When we talk with a person on the phone we know even less than we know of those on the internet-think about it. With a well managed bb like this one, they can manage problems along with those who seek advantage over the members.

Just because some of us spend an hour per day at this or other sites-we still are in the market place and making money doing our trade. To conceder us just one step up from the homeless derelict is just a little ridiculous. You can rest assure that many of us are tax payers, college graduates, ex military and self employed. This bb gives its users a great return, plus it gives them something to be part of-a contractor message bb

A little condecending!
Yes the internet is very annonymous, but here at PWI I personally validate each new member and verify signature info before they are granted permission to post. I have NOT gone through the old memberlist of innactive members as it seems to be a waste of time, HOWEVER, when a new post from an old member appears I start doing a little research. I wanted the old Administrator to validate new members or allow the moderators to do it but he refused. So we are playing a little bit of catch up.
As for people that have time on their hands to spend bettering the industry, maybe its not that we are one step away from becoming homeless...maybe it is because we have successful businesses with competent management that allows us, the owners, to take time to do something we enjoy.

Showing ips gives credibility to all. Its and electronic identification and I believe its for safety and only ads safety to members.

This information should be open to all and I see no reason if everything is on the square why we would want to keep identities

There are plenty of circus performers who are IKECA Certified as well, its not exclusive to the PWNA.

Every organization has issues-but at least IKECA requires that you are a Hood Cleaning Company with standard comp and liability insurance. That is a big step from PWNA whose only requirement is money & along with that you get a closed bb. It is up to us as members of IKECA to make the system credible, ethical and positive for our own company.

Far be it for me to appear a PWNA supporter, but they do have insurance requirements now for their membership. Unlike IKECA, PWNA members may attempt to make it credible and ethical but BOD activity shoots us in the butt everytime.

That has to hurt!

"Unlike IKECA, PWNA members may attempt to make it credible and ethical but BOD activity shoots us in the butt everytime"

And what do you know about IKECA that makes it un-credible?
