Grant
Administrator
Just over two years ago, Ron Musgraves and I had a conversation about the administration of the Pressure Washing Institute Bulletin Board. The previous Administrator, Mike Hughes, had done a fine job, but somewhere along the line during his tenure, he got busy with his personal or business life and may have become burned out maintaining the PWIBB. I offered numerous times to step in and assist him, but I think pride got in the way of admitting that assistance was needed.
Ron and I agreed that that I would take over the controls and the number one position of management of this board. The agreement that I made with him included that if I felt as if I was burning out, or if the board started interfering with my business or private life that I would step down and allow someone fresh to take over. We further agreed that we should put a slightly flexible two year “term” on the PWIBB Administrator position to prevent a dictatorship that would negatively influence PWI.
I have not burned out, nor is the board interfering in my business or personal life, but now that I have been the administrator for over two years, I feel it in the best interest of PWI to step aside and allow a replacement to take charge.
Ron and I have had many discussions regarding a transfer of administration and we have mutually agreed that Russ Spence, a dedicated member and moderator, would be my replacement. There were several others that were considered, all very capable, and well deserving. But Russ seemed to us to be the logical choice. Ron and I have both spoken with Russ and he shares our common belief of maintaining the board with its current principals of no advertising or sponsorship, lots of open communication and a general sense of community and camaraderie.
I am not going away; I will still be a frequent visitor and will always be available to Ron, Russ and future administrators. I have learned many things from many people. I have had disagreements with some, but always viewed each discussion as a way to learn, even if I disagreed with someone’s position. PWI always has been a great source for the industry and I hope it always will be.
So please join me in welcoming Russ Spence as the new Administrator of PWI.
