Maryland Pressure Washing
Good luck to you guys, I'm looking forward to hearing more about this as it develops.
If you can make a buck out of it, go for it. If the goal is to educate contractors and share ideas, I would stop it now. The greatest detriment to the individual contractor is an educated competitor. If you know what you are doing and making money, then hope that the next contractor isn't.
Right on TY!! I agree with everything your saying. I never worried about competition. When I worked as a one man band I charged higher because yes I did have my other job and also because I believed I deserved it by the work I did.I see what your saying to an extent but kindly disagree. Let me put it this way, I have over a hundred competitors just in Mesa. Think about how many great power washers in Phoenix there are just on this board.
Ron, Scott, Adam, Jim, and the list goes on. Ron and Scott run million dollar companies. I should hit a million this year if everything goes as planned. Not bragging, just pointing out that there is no such thing as bad competition unless they are hacks. Ron and the other guys in Phoenix that have been doing it since I was born, basically helped me out informing people of our services. The more people who know about our services the better. Even with me in the business now I have not slowed down Ron's business. There are so many options in power washing. There is no way any company could EVER in their lives possibly take all the business in Phoenix. Literally, every business that has a facility needs some sort of power washing services 1 way or the other.
My point being, competition is going to be there regardless, so if the competition is informed of the correct way to do business and not low balling than it is better for me and everyone else. We keep prices higher. If we don't educate our competition then they will be under bidding us and making the industry look bad for everyone doing terrible cheap work. As long as my company continues doing good work then it doesn't matter how many other companies come into the business. If I am doing what I should be then you won't touch my contract. And like I mentioned before, the more companies in the business, the more customers interested in our services. Now I'm not going to go out of my way to let people know who my customers are but I will say this, there is so much work out there that I am not concerned about losing any single contract.
There is thousands of carpet cleaning companies in Phoenix and I know 2 or 3 companies that make millions a year. And there is 10X's more concrete than carpet in the world. Its just all perspective. If you don't think about your competition hurting your business then they won't be. And honestly, if you are spending time thinking about your competition then you are not trying too hard cause I don't have time to think about anyone else.
Just my 2 cents, not trying to argue just wanted to give you a different point of view.
