Pressure Cleaning School

This week we had Steve and David Stoll of attending The Pressure Cleaning School. Steve and his son David own a 25 year old Window Cleaning business and are adding Roof and Exterior Cleaning this year. Here is David learning spray techniques for spraying a roof and then a couple pictures from the Tuesday Morning Classroom session.

I think he means this long aluminum wand like on the video Doug from this post.

Doug, are there any places there in Houston that sell those aluminum 8' or 10' wands? Stainless Steel? Last few times I have bought 8' wands or close to that length they came in bent because of bad packaging and terrible ups drivers. I can have Carlos pick up some for me and bring them down when he visits twice a month for his contract here.

Yes, just make sure that its a heavy gauge that will handle the pressure. When buying it from someone they should be able to tell you.
 
You might run into some problems having the stainless threaded, it dulls out the dies fast.

I had the wand leaking from the threads so I cut those off and a couple inches higher and called and went by machine shops here and their minimum was $60 for any job and a few just did not want to even bother as they told me it dulls their dies fast and they don't get their money out of their dies.

I bought the Rigid hand held pipe threader last year and 1/4" die and then had to buy the special 1/4" die teeth for cutting stainless steel.

Another problem you will have is holding the pipe when cutting threads as most vices will not grab onto pipe that good, a good solution is the Rigid tripod pipe vice or the pipe vice that you see on the back of welder, gas company and other maintenance company trucks. The tripod has a chain that gets tight around the pipe against teeth like in a pipe wrench. The other vice has teeth on the bottom and top side and holds pipe tight for cutting threads.

I forgot the numbers of the stainless steel (like 316 or the others) that is good for wands, not sure if it has to be schedule 80 or if it can be schedule 40.

The ones I have are aluminum and you can get them from Electrical Supply houses, the ones I have I have had for over 2o years and got in Florida. Paul at powerwashstore.com can get you any size you want too. He had some in Orlando at softwashapolooza

I have a 4, 6, 8, and 10 foot one. The 10 footer just bust off at the end last week after 20 years of use, so i got to get it re threaded.

I will call a couple electrical supply houses here and ask them if they sell the aluminum tubing and/or stainless steel tubing.

I am trying not to order the tubing if I can find it locally because of the outrageous shipping prices on wands at 8' or longer and like I mentioned, the past boxes the tubing came in bent, the boxes were bent along with the tubing also so I would like to avoid the ups circus if possible.

Here is an email I received from David who own's a 25 year old Window Cleaning business, along with his Dad, Both David and his Dad attend the School last month.

One of the things I always stress to anyone that attends the school is that I am always available 24/7 anytime they have a question, AFTER they leave the school, and at no additional charge.

Thanks so much for having us down for your Pressure Cleaning School. The knowledge you passed on regarding different techniques, chemical mixes, equipment, etc... has already proved invaluable. We are just about to start our 2nd season of pressure washing and I only wish I would have done this a year sooner. I feel much more confident after attending your pressure washing classes. Despite all of this, I feel that the most valuable part of this whole experience is having your expertise available whenever I have a question. As you know, I've already had a ton of questions, and I will have many more I'm sure. Your classes will more than pay for themselves during our spring season. I am about to send out 500 fliers to our existing residential customer base here in town. Let the pressure washing begin!

Guys just go to the local machine shop an tell them you what you are looking for and what you will be using it for and they can get it in when they place an order and like the other guys said it comes in 20 foot sections so you can make up a long range bomber a mid range and a short gun all off one piece.
 
Are those schedule 40 or schedule 80 pieces of stainless steel (what grade of stainless steel?) and are they schedule 40 or schedule 80 aluminum for the wands? I use both.

OR...just call Paul, you'll have them in 3-4 days..I just bought 3 or 4 of them. Spent less than 60$ total, including the fittings, and took a 2 minute phone call.
