Hey everyone could really use a prayer and some luck for my Mother, Joan. She has been fighting and pretty much winning her fight with stage 4 lung cancer for over 16 months. We always knew if nothing else the cancer would take her. She has been on a fairly new chemo for 16 months and it has stopped the growth. All of us and her oncologist have been very, very happy. Her quality of life has been very good. She lives with us and she loves my kids and they adore and watch out for their Nana. Nana has taught both my kids their A B C’s, how to print and math before they ever started school, pretty much the reason my son is a honor roll student and in Gifted & Talented class and why my daughter is a model student as her kindergarten teacher proudly tell us. Man my Mom is great with my kids
Well a couple nights ago she woke up with severe abdomen pain so I took her to the ER. Found out through a CT scan she has diverticulitis and the very bad part of it she has a perforation there. Well it’s a major infection now. Because of her weakened state there really aren’t any winning choices for her. There is a surgery but it’s a very difficult one and even on a healthy person with an over 30 plus day recovery in the hospital. The doctor said there’s a very strong chance that the surgery would kill her and even if she lived through it she almost for sure would have complication after complication until it kills her and she would be in pain and miserable. So surgery is a bad choice even if she could make it through it
Here’s where I need some prayers and a miracle and we all know it’s a very long shot. They have her on major antibiotics. The long shot is the antibiotics knock down the infection and the perforation will have time to heal
I had a horrible day yesterday; the doctor called me outside her room and told me all this and I had to go tell her it doesn’t look good. It killed me, she has fought so hard these past months and we knew she maybe had another year, she wasn’t expecting this.
My mother has been my savior and never gave up on me at some very rough times in my life, we have a very special bond. I just ask all to pray hard that somehow the antibiotics work and if they don’t, pray for her comfort and peace in what little time she may have left. We will know today pretty much where it all stands.
I proudly wear the badge of momma’s boy, she is loving and strong, what more could anyone want to be.
Thank you all, I consider many out here my friends and more. Back to the hospital now, my brother came in town and about 1am and stayed with her so I could come home and shower.
