Thats where I live!

Only problem is now that I took my much needed break from the bbs world we have more business than we have in years. So the beach is that thing down the road right by where we work!

Russ we went to Destin last month and I spent much of our vacation counting shopping centers up and down that strip. There are a bunch of them.
 
Not Houston in August. I've done that. Miserable!!!!

I always say Memphis...because it's only 2 hours from home. It's also a hub for Northwest airlines. Beale Street. Graceland. There's gambling in Tunica, Mississippi, about 30 minutes away.

Florida in February sounds good. Wouldn't have to worry about bad weather (most likely).
 
If I had to pick a place that's reasonable and that's enjoyable for your family as well because of the attractions and they both have I would pick Memphis and Vegas. Memphis I did in the past and it was a blast. Vegas we're working on in the future and I never have been there but I heard a lot about it.

In the not so distant future I would like to do one like the NASCAR truckers (I think it was them) where they had one on an exotic island and my family and I happened to be on the same island just down the road. It was Duck Island in the Keys.
You can fly to fort Meyers cheap and work it out with some shuttle rental or have a guy or 2 for the org or affiliate involved to ride back and forth all day to bring the attendees in by renting vans. You can have a great time and the whole thing is an official and not a scam to write it off... And if it was a hit you could lock the hotel in for a couple of years at a cheaper rate..
Just some of the stuff that's on my mind to look at in the future. Another one is to do a cleaning job for a hotel where you can almost make it free for attendees(this one you would have to be very creative and you could also do a long term deal as well)
 
Even though this thread is over a month old, You must consider San Antonio TX. Easy access and flights, not too hot, great venues, moderate prices, lot of things to do from night clubs to family entertainment.
