I do this 1/2 full time....not really part time...I work 7 days at a job and off 7 days so I have alot of time to clean.
I do not have a set salary for myself per say but I never see any of my salary from my main job. It goes strait in the bank for the wife to take care of our household bills.
My business is what I live off of as far as gas money, lunch, and entertainment.........I also invest as I need in new equipment and such.
As I have spent alot on purchasing the needed equipment to make my work easier and better I am almost to where I need to be with everything with the exception of a reclaim system.
I hope by the end of the summer-beginning of next year to be able to set up a budget to where I am paying myself a set salary and let my profit make me money through investments...
I pay myself enough to cover my personal monthly bills, and thats it. My goal is to put 25% a year away in a Money market account, for taxes and general savings, but this has not happened yet. I pay myself "bonuses" whenever needed. My wife also has a full time job that goes to personal as well.
Getting an accountant to handle my taxes and bounce ideas off of has been one of the best investments I have made for my business. They are very affordable, and if you find the right accountant they are very open and helpful in other areas of your business aswell.
